Right off, WOW is a banging track! Ok to the story- Jansport J and Hawdwerk teamed up to crank out the album High Power Moves. I got the title track High Power Moves from Jansport J, and was digging it. I hit him up for some more, and he dropped Wow on me. It just keeps getting better, so you know I’m going to hit’em up again. If this is what’s to come of the rest of the album, I can’t wait. This cat Add-2 is already making moves. Tale of Two’s City Vol. 3: The Rise & Fall is presented by the 2Dope Boyz & Okayplayer, featured on Okayplayer, and URB Next 1000 also did a feature on the chi-town native. It’s good, and good music needs to get out there. I first heard of Add-2 from Real T@lk’s Mo Better Mixtape, and started doing my homework. Tale of Two’s City Vol. 3: The Rise & Fall has been on heavy rotation in my ipod for a while. Shafiq Husayn (Sa-Ra Creative Partners) is having an album release party for his new album Shafiq En’ A-Free-Ka that drops October 6th. It’s going to be HOT! there will be special guest DJ sets & performances by Shafiq Husayn & Om’mas Keith (Sa-Ra Creative Partners/Plug Research). Guest host for the evening is Jneiro Jarel (Dr. WhoDat | Label Who). And always on deck Boombox resident DJs Inka One, Ben Diggin, One Man Jazz and visuals by MCSTUDIOART.LA. My man Devonwho was tweeting the other day about this nice 11 track beat tape he got in an email called The Other Side Vol. 3 by this cat Weslee Connerzs. He posted up the link, and I checked it out. Now when Devonwho tweets about something he’s got, you know its gotta be good. After rocking The Other Side Vol. 3 I hit Devonwho up about getting a hold of Weslee. Yeah this is something to write home about. I didn’t get much, but this beat maker is from Philly and has got more in the works. Saturday morning (afternoon for everyone else) chilling with no plans. turned on the computer and checked email and twitter to see what’s the buzz. I read DJ Neil Armstrong’s tweets that he was chilling at The Block in Orange. I hit him up to see if he was down for an interview, and he was like “Come on down.” I jetted from Pasadena to Orange in under an hour to bring you this great footage. The Seed is the first part of a bigger project that was put together by Adikt1 (on the beats), Kahlee & Uptown Swuite (on the mic). About middle of next year they are planning on releasing more tracks from the bigger project. I gotta tell you if this is for what’s to come, I really want to check what this bigger project is. The Seed has a classic hip hop sound with energy, but still on the kick back and chill tip. CunninLynguists have quickly became one of my favorite groups. These cats had me busting up and rollin on the floor with Never Come Down. Strange Journey Vol. One has a great balance of topics on their mind without being preachy, head nodding beats, and clever lyrics that will make you listen to each line closely. The only other album that made me do that was The Pharcyde’s Bizarre Ride II!
