Oregon brings the heat once again with Lawz Spoken. my man Kenny was tweeting about producer Lawz Spoken, and if you know Kenny that cats always got something good. I checked out Lawz Spoken’sStanding In The Rain, and right of the bat was feeling the Intro (Wake Up Everybody). I’ve been grooving on it for a while and thought it needed to get out to the masses. The guest appearances like illmaculate and Sole Pro got some nice flows to top off these dope beats. It’s a good listen and the beats are dope. Download Lawz Spoken – Standing In The Rain here. Check out Lawz Spoken on MySpace and Twitter. BIG thanks to Kenny for the heads up on this one.

The tracks selected for Classic Collaboration takes me back to high school, and some even farther. This was recorded in 2006 at Stacks record shop in Ontario (Inland Empire) while the shop was still open. Classic Collaboration is one of the many projects DJ GabeReal & DJ Ethos are planning on releasing this year. Like another B+C’s hero J1, DJ Ethos & GabeReal used all vinyl to create this dope mix. I dig Classic Collaboration not only for the tracks, but some are remixes by DJ Ethos & GabeReal that are only available on this mix. Check out Classic Collaboration and download it here. BIG thanks to DJ GabeReal for the heads up.

For most of y’all I don’t have to tell you who Houseshoes is, but for those of you sleeping under a rock he is Hip Hop! To the point, laid back, real, Detroit, and all around good dude are just a few ways I would describe Houseshoes. From killing it DJing to making ill beats this is the guy to know. A while back I got this track called Castles by Houseshoes. Since then I’ve been keeping an eye out for whatever he drops, even podcast. Unlike other podcast, Houseshoes’ reads more like a resume and list of his friends. I’m amazed of all the projects and the people he’s worked with. Be sure to check out The Makings and keep your eyes and ears open for his LP, and look for him at Shoes House(Blue Monkey Lounge) in Hollywood. BIG thanks to Houseshoes for taking the time.

This cat from the Netherlands has been up on B+C from day one. IllSkiz let us know he was feeling the content. Later down the road he shot us an email with some beats he made and we quickly wrote a post. If you missed the first post about IllSkiz go back and check it out. My man IllSkiz blessed B+C with another beat tape. There’s a track he made titled BeatsNCrates he made for B+C! Now that’s tight, right?! I don’t have to tell you IllSkiz has mad skills making beats, but if he’s new to you, check out the first post. Download IllSkilz – The Beat Tape 2 here. BIG thanks to IllSkiz for making some crazy beats and the B+C anthem. IllSkiz is B+C fam in my book. Keep cranking out the good stuff man.

My man Thelonious was dropping beat tape after beat tape. One day we were tweeting, and he mentioned he was looking to work with some emcees. K. Sparks was one that he brought up a couple of times, and told me to keep my ears open. Shortly after, Thelonious emailed me this dope track called Obsession that I kept playing it over and over. It’s a little dark, but the combo of the 2 works is awesome. I started digging for more K. Sparks stuff, but no luck. A couple of months passed and I seen that 2 Dope Boyz and KevinNottingham.com presents K. SparksSuper Senior. I was like “what?! That’s dope.” The album has a good mix and with 25 tracks you’ll find the one you crank the volume up on. Obsession isn’t featured on Super Senior, but I’m sure there’s another project in the works with it. Download K. Sparks – Super Senior from DJBooth.net. Also check out Thelonious – Big Wheels & Gold Teeth. BIG thanks to Thelonious for the heads up.

I rocked Oddisee’sOdd Summer for a long time and recently switched up to Oddisee’sOdd Autumn. We don’t have seasons in So Cal, so when it started getting cold the other day I figured it was time to switch. Stuff Oddisee puts out quickly becomes a staple in my ipod, so Odd Autumn is no different. I rocked Odd Autumn when I needed to feel grounded and relaxed. It’s feel good music all the way. Earlier today I was walking around downtown LA playing Odd Autumn and it felt like a soundtrack. That track The Second Date had me moving faster. Download Oddisee – Odd Autumn here, and check out Oddisee on MySpace. BIG thanks to Oddisee for making dope music and Put Me On It for dropping the exclusive.

I got Mochilla’s email newsletter about their upcoming event, and saw this flyer. I caught Madlib, Coleman & B+’s names first, and was like “that’s what I’m doing” before I saw the date. I continued to read the rest of the email. Real talk, I had no clue who Hypnotic Brass Ensemble was, so I did my homework. I watched this YouTube video on them, and was floored. I hope you watched that video and bought a ticket, because I think it’s going to be a packed house. Catch some more background and videos on VTech Music. Buy your tickets online at TicketWeb. You can try to hit the door the day of, but I’m not trying it. BIG thanks to Mochilla for keeping me in the loop. See you cats there!

Dylan Thomas and Haz Solo are funny, crazy, and dope. The have done separate projects of their own (featured on each other projects), but together are dynamic. Haz has got a hand full of albums, and yeah man I’m still rocking June Bug. Dylan Thomas dropped And It Was Good…and it was dope. That one’s in heavy rotation on my ipod. All Jokes Aside takes it to another level with these cats. Don’t Turn Around is one of the tracks that got me hooked. The whole thing is worth the buy. Check it for yourself. Pick up All Jokes Aside at DigStation. You know I gotta give something for free and Dylan was down for it, so download Don’t Turn Around here. BIG thanks Dylan for the heads up.

The professor of Funk J1 aka THE DEER schools us on Parliament Funkadelic with Cosmic Slop. Take A Trip made me think about every album I owned that sampled those tracks, and that was a dope trip. Cosmic Slop will make you want to dig for more funk, and at the very least will get you out of your seat and dance. J1 drops stuff on us that educates and/or gives us a better appreciation for music (in my case, inspires creativity). If you can catch up with him and chat about music, J1 will definitely drop some knowledge on you. Download Cosmic Slop here and if this doesn’t get you hooked on funk…I don’t know what will. Enjoy. BIG thanks J1 for another dope mix.
Track List:
Parliament – P-funk (Wants To Get Funked Up)
Funkadelic – A Joyful Process
Eddie Hazel – Frantic Moment
Parliament – One Of Those Funky Things
Parliament – (Gloryholastoopid) Pin The Tale On The Funky
Parliament – Bop Gun (Endangered Species)
Parliament – Let’s Play House
Parliament – All Your Goodies Are Gone
Parliament – I’ve Been Watchin You (Move Your Sexy Body)

Once again gearing up for Boombox, and the line up is crazy. Boombox is having their Producer Showcase (vol. 6) with some heavy hits that are making BIG waves. We got Proh Mic from the Hawthorne Headhunters, TOKiMONSTA from Brainfeeder, Devonwho rep’n Klipmode, & Snowman (Jack) who’s out right dope in my book. My man Inka One gets top notch folks at Boombox, so this is one not to be missed. And always on deck at Boombox resident DJs Inka One, Ben Diggin, One Man Jazz. See you there. IMPORTANT: RSVP at Going LA
