I got a link from this cat Hollywood Floss about his EP, The Xperiment. Vol. 1. The link lead me to Hailmegetron.net with an explanation of the concept. Hollywood Floss sent a few joints out to a couple of his frienda, and had them name the tracks. And then he would put the “experiment” out. Simple concept, but one I haven’t seen done to release an EP. Cool idea. When I first gave it a listen it wasn’t a sound I was expecting to come from Texas. Its an electric mix with a Hollywood Floss style. Hollywood Floss brings it with his witty lyrics over a nice choice of beats. He’s definitely one to look for. Hollywood Floss wrapped a project set to release some time in February, so keep your eyes open. Download Hollywood Floss – The Xperiment Vol.1 at Hailmegetron.net, and check out Hollywood Floss’ other release on Bandcamp. BIG thanks Hollywood Floss for the heads up.

I woke up a little earlier on Saturday, and saw my man Aspect 1 dropping a link to his latest project VIBE.OVER on twitter. If any of you know Aspect, this cat only does shows on occasion, and kicks it less then that. It’s because he’s focused on making beats. I downloaded VIBE.OVER right away and it slapped me in the face. I was instantly wide awake. My friend a chung and I were ichatting about which tracks were our instant favorites. I played it back-to-back-to-back… for reals. I even had a hard time selecting which ones to preview. Just download Aspect. One – VIBE.OVER, you’ll be glad you did. If you want the latest updates catch Aspect 1 on twitter. BIG thanks Aspect 1 for the heads up man. Keep making bangers.

Winter is here and Oddisee has dropped another soundtrack dedicated to the season. Odd Winter has a few more tracks with emcees on it than Odd Summer & Odd Autumn, but totally has the season themed series feel. Ci’iy Life featuring Tranqill sets the mood, and eases you into the “Oddisee sound. I use “Oddisee sound” loosely because you can hear the diversity throughout Odd Winter. Even with the eclectic sound Oddisee brings it all together to give you a blast of winter. That’s what makes him a very talented producer. I have to say, you can’t go wrong with Oddisee as a producer or an emcee.Download Oddisee’s Odd Winter on Bandcamp, and check out the other seasonal releases. BIG thanks Oddisee.

DON’T SLEEP on the I.E.! That’s real talk people. Black Cloud Records has got a gang of artists that are putting the I.E. on the map. Yasin is one cat you may have heard of or caught a track he’s been featured on. Sound Of A Monster, Black Friday Tape, and now War Iza Reality are just a few projects Yasin has be involved with. War Iza Reality is a banger. On Murder Cops (ft. Jynxx), Yasin doesn’t hold back on expressing how he feels about (some) cops, and the Oakland tragedy. Overall this is a head nodding Hip Hop album. Download Yasin – War Iza Reality here. BIG thanks to Noa for the heads up.

The first time I heard the track Please Tip Your Driver, I played it over and over. Shortly after, I hit up Red Pill and wanted to get the low down on the track. It’s the first single from his album with the same title. At the time when I first heard it, the album Please Tip Your Driver, didn’t have a release date, and a few months later it is here! I have to tell you Please Tip Your Driver is a MUST have. Dead End Road, I Understand, YouCanMakeLifeCanMakeYou every track is like a short story that you can relate to. I don’t know what else Red Pill’s got in the works, but he’s one to look for.Download Red Pill – Please Tip Your Driver from his site. BIG thanks to Red Pill for making real hip hop. Keep doing you.

A while back I connected with Adikt1 and with Kahlee & Uptown Swuite they put out The Seed. These cats stay busy. Kahlee hit me with this dope video, Live On Stage by Krazy Race (ft. Kahlee). Live On Stage has a classic hip hop style to it, so I was feeling it right away. I was digging the graff walls in the background, and hip hop heads rocking to a dope beat. Check out Chronicles of a Krazy Race at CD Baby.com. BIG thanks Kahlee for the heads up.

DON’T SLEEP! Right off the bat this is DOPE! Blame One recently dropped Mr. Science Presents Leaks & Gemz and since then I have played the whole thing every day (sometimes more than once). If that’s not heavy rotation then I don’t know what is. From the jump, Mr. Science had me cranking up the volume and nodding my head. I got to Move Forward featuring Trek Life & Sene and had to replay it… a couple of times. Leaks & Gemz had me in a Hip Hop zone. Take note people, this is what Hip Hop sounds like. Download Blame One – Leaks & Gemz here. Check out what Blame One is up to on Twitter. BIG thanks Blame One for showing the folks what hip hop is all about.

19 tracks of Hip Hop goodness. A while back E Reece shot me an email with a few tracks from Art & Commerce The Mixtape before it dropped, so I had an idea of what I was in store for. If you know or have met Chuck Chilla, just add producer to his many credits. He contributed some tracks on Art & Commerce The Mixtape. I flipped out when I saw “mixed by Inka One” on the cover art of Art & Commerce the mixtape. If you have been to Boombox (at Grand Star), then you know about Inka One. Great DJ and all around good guy. With all of these good folks on the project E Reece does a killer job on the mic. Download E Reece – Art & Commerce the mixtape here. Catch E Reece on MySpace, Facebook, Twitter & check out some videos on Vimeo & YouTube. Also keep an eye out for E Reece LP Concrete Steppin due in the Spring. BIG thanks E Reece for the heads up.

I first caught Starrs & Murph on the track Damn produced by Illmind on Illmind’s Blaps, Rhymes, & Life Vol II. I did a little digging and found Boxes For Sale. Now the title alone had me cracking up, but the album itself is a good listen. Boxes For Sale has a good party pace, and will keep your head nodding. There are a lot of promo spots on it, but if you can get pass that you are good to go. I definitely will be looking for the next Starrs & Murph project.Download Starrs & Murph’s Boxes For Sale here. Check out some of the studio session and interviews at Starrs & Murph’s MySpace page. BIG thanks Starrs & Murph for making good hip hop.
