The Nice Guys – The Green Room

Posted by aaron on September 21, 2010
download, ep / Comments Off

I am signed up to more newsletters then I need to be, but now and then there is some dope stuff that comes from it.  I think I noticed this one from Audible Treats because of the screen shot of a video of a dude with his head on the table and a Jack Daniels bottle in his hand.  Ha ha, I guess I can relate.  At the bottom of the image it had this label that said “Nice Guys,” so I read it.  It was a spoof  interview called Nice Short Pt. 7 to promote The Nice Guys debut album, The Show which comes out next week (Sept. 28).  I downloaded The Nice Guys Green Room EP, had it in heavy rotation, and went back for more.  Mr. Perfect is the first leak from the LP The Show and it is dope.  I’m looking forward for the LP to drop.  Download The Nice Guys – The Green Room & Mr. Perfect from Band Camp.  BIG thanks Audible Treats for the heads up.

No One is the duo of Noni Spitz & Dae One – an emcee/producer partnership known for putting in work on the West Coast with their individual and collaborative projects from an early age.  Their most recent project, The Pre-Substance is lighting up the internet, building considerable buzz for the The Substance, due out later this year.  European readers, check for them when they swing through the continent in October.

After you check the official vid for How it Iz – directed by James Wade, head over to the DJ Buddy TV show.  Hit the 01:38:00 mark to watch an in-depth interview with No One, and pick up some entertainment industry game in the process.

Deca One – Floating World

Posted by aaron on September 20, 2010
beat tape, download / Comments Off

I got an email from Deca One about his beat tape called Floating World.  The first thing that came to mind is, “this kid must have been high when he thought of the title” … and then I played it.  Cloud Knockin’ has a very chill vibe will have you floating in no time.  Deca One also gives a good balance with the 8-bit sound and sampling, and still maintains an outta this world feeling.  He also throws in a nice remix of Badu’s Soldier.  In Floating World I hear the potential.  Download Deca One – Floating World from BandCamp.  Also check Deca One out on Twitter, MySpace, & Tumblr.  BIG thanks Deca One for sending in your beat tape. Keep going man.

update, video / Comments Off

This video is sick.  My man Dibiase is a beast on the beats and now he has the video to match.  This *ish is bananas!  I don’t smoke and Skullcrack gave me a contact high from just watching it.  Today (Sept. 14) Dibiase drops his album Machines Hate Me on Alpha Pup Records, so cop that.  I know I will.  BIG thanks to J Listed for tweeting about this one.

Black Milk – Album Of The Year

Posted by aaron on September 14, 2010
album / Comments Off

I don’t have to say much about this album… I really don’t.  The title and the music speaks loud enough for it.  I bought Album Of The Year at Fat Beats, dropped it in the CD player on the way home, and drove the long way home to hear it again.  When I got home, I copied it to my computer, iPod, and my iPhone so I wouldn’t be without it.  It drops today (September 14th), so find the closest record shop and buy Black MilkAlbum Of The Year.

All right, let me get to the music.  The Album Of The Year has that Black Milk sound, but bigger.  If that’s possible…guess it is.  Still having that big drum sound, funky samples, hypnotic rhythmic flow, and heavy hitting -with guests like Danny Brown, you can’t help but put it on repeat. The album overall has a complete sound, but each track can hold it’s own.  You just have to listen to it people.  It’s also worth getting a physical copy.  Very clean design with shiny red soil numbers on the cover making a bold statement.  Go to or order Black Milk – Album Of The Year from Fat Beats…now.  BIG thanks to House ShoesBlack Milk keep making that music.
