I was introduced to Open Mike Eagle’s music through the Hellfyre Club’s Prometheus. Then I went to Bananas one night and got to see Open Mike Eagle there. We talked for a bit and asked if I got a chance to check out his album, Rappers Will Die Of Natural Causes, yet. I didn’t and he blessed me with a copy. On my way home I popped it in the CD player and cranked it up. “Riding down Slauson bumping 97 Weezer, Don’t know all the lyrics but hittin all the key words,” “Party people do you feel me, and if you disagree you should feel free, but if you wit it raise your hands to the ceiling” Opening lines to The Processional made me see how lyrically sharp Open Mike Eagle is. Most of the tracks I had to play twice to catch lines like that. The video to Nightmares is really thought out and on some other level sh*t. Rappers Will Die Of Natural Causes is worth buying the hard copy. The artwork on the side is really dope. Buy Open Mike Eagle – Rappers Will Die Of Natural Causes on iTunes, or if you happen to run into Open Mike Eagle, buy one from him. Real nice guy and a cool cat. BIG thanks Open Mike Eagle, keep doing what you’re doing. BIG shout to VerBs and Alpha MC always good catching up with you guys.

You know those days you just want to chill out, but you don’t want to play your parent’s jazz. You need something with a little kick that speaks to you, right? Well look no farther, Trebles and Blues – The Blue Note is for you. Yes, I sound like an info commercial because Trebles and Blues needs to package it up and sell this. I got an email from the LA producer/beat maker the other day about checking out his debut project, The Blue Note. Really digging how he discribes the projects, “It consists of 11 tracks that are designed to take the listener through a variety of different emotions and locations, from enjoying an intimate setting in a small, hole-in-the-wall jazz club in NYC to embarking on a soothing evening stroll in the beautiful country of Japan…” From the intro to the outro I couldn’t help, but feel this was a soundtrack to whatever I was doing at the time. I rocked Peace in Everything rolling downtown to work and just put it on repeat like it was the greatest drive to work ever. When music kicks your day off right, you gotta share the wealth. Download Trebles and Blues – The Blue Note on Band Camp. I still think Trebles and Blues needs to be selling this. Also check out TreblesandBlues.com, really dope site. BIG thanks Trebles and Blues for the heads up.

Vandalyzm’sB!%^h Im’Mis Talented is a must have! When I interviewedBlack Spade a while ago, he was talking about his upcoming projects and the people he was working with. Vandalyzm’s name came up. Vandalyzm put out B!%^h Im’Mis Talented earlier this year and it’s been on heavy rotation since. Vandalyzm has put together his own tracks, tracks he’s produced and has been featured on including one my favorite tracks The Cool Out (featuring Black Spade & El Prez, produced by Black Spade). Trust me, you won’t skip a track. Download Vandalyzm – B!%^h Im’Mis Talented on Band Camp and check out his latest project The Proposal. BIG thanks to Black Spade for letting me know about this cat.

I don’t want to say anything that’s going to land me in hot water with female emcees, but DAMN can you spit like that?!? I gotta ask the fellas that too, because Josie Stingray shows she’s a dope emcee. Just play it again and listen carefully. “Give me a beat I’m a show you how my teeth work. Call me a B, and you must mean brilliant.” You all know I’ll be digging up more stuff about her for sure. Josie Stingray, kicks, and the Honor Roll… sounds like a good mix to me. BIG thanks to the Honor Roll for keeping me posted. BIG shout to Torin Simpson and Matt McKee for making a dope video.

Curren$y andThe Alchemist came out with Covert Coup 4/20. Yes April 20th, and it’s been on heavy rotation since. The combination of Curren$y’s voice and The Alchemist’s beats just line up and are a little hypnotic. Both are banging out the projects, but this one should have been on a store shelf. You can ride out on the Covert Coup from beginning to end. I really don’t have mouch to say about Cover Coup except download Curren$y x The Alchemist – Covert Coup on Band Camp. It’s still free and you’ll be glad you did. BIG thanks Curren$y for tweeting about this one.
