El Prez is a Los Angeles staple like the Lakers and In-N-Out. It shouldn’t be a surprise that El Prez’s title Animal Style! and cover art have that In-N-Out look. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. What does surprise me is that he can crank out projects, and be everywhere at once! For reals. I’ve seen him at several events, he’s mentioned on every blog (check the interview on LA Stereo), updates his tumblr site, and tweets throughout the day. I’d call him a super emcee. Animal Style! is more then just a top secret item not shown on the In-N-Out menu, but a dope EP. Download El Prez – Animal Style! on BandCamp. BIG thanks El Prez for for keeping it LA.

Tomorrow, Yesterday (T.I.E. & Yep) are bringing it to you on a regular with their latest release Making the Fans Pt. 1. A while back I got their first single Ladies Say and rocked that for a long time. It was also featured on the Cali Co-Op Vol. 1 Mixtape, so you know I was pumped to get Making the Fans Pt. 1. It also helps that Tomorrow, Yesterday is from Riverside. J. Bizness, Namebrand, & Rhap V. are just a few of the talent they got mixed up in this project. It is feel good, party, play it with your mom in the car Hip Hop. You gotta love that. Download Tomorrow, Yesterday’s Making the Fans Pt. 1 on Band Camp. Also check out Tomorrow, Yesterday on MySpace. BIG thanks Yep, you cats are making the I.E. proud.

Svetnik is crazy talented. If you don’t know who he is there was a B+C post a while back that was about his other beat tape Lo.Fi. Rocking Lo.Fi made me feel relaxed and at peace no matter what chaos was going down. Blueprint gives you that same feeling with a nice upbeat tempo. I was cranking out all kinds of work listening to Blueprint. I dig the track Making Love To You because it sounds like there is a sample of one of my favorite songs; A Brighter Day by Ronnie Jordan. Either way you’ve got to kepp an eye out for Svetnik because he drops well produced projects.Download Svetnik – Blueprint (EP) on Bandcamp. BIG thanks Svetnik for the low down.

I got a link from this cat Hollywood Floss about his EP, The Xperiment. Vol. 1. The link lead me to Hailmegetron.net with an explanation of the concept. Hollywood Floss sent a few joints out to a couple of his frienda, and had them name the tracks. And then he would put the “experiment” out. Simple concept, but one I haven’t seen done to release an EP. Cool idea. When I first gave it a listen it wasn’t a sound I was expecting to come from Texas. Its an electric mix with a Hollywood Floss style. Hollywood Floss brings it with his witty lyrics over a nice choice of beats. He’s definitely one to look for. Hollywood Floss wrapped a project set to release some time in February, so keep your eyes open. Download Hollywood Floss – The Xperiment Vol.1 at Hailmegetron.net, and check out Hollywood Floss’ other release on Bandcamp. BIG thanks Hollywood Floss for the heads up.

Winter is here and Oddisee has dropped another soundtrack dedicated to the season. Odd Winter has a few more tracks with emcees on it than Odd Summer & Odd Autumn, but totally has the season themed series feel. Ci’iy Life featuring Tranqill sets the mood, and eases you into the “Oddisee sound. I use “Oddisee sound” loosely because you can hear the diversity throughout Odd Winter. Even with the eclectic sound Oddisee brings it all together to give you a blast of winter. That’s what makes him a very talented producer. I have to say, you can’t go wrong with Oddisee as a producer or an emcee.Download Oddisee’s Odd Winter on Bandcamp, and check out the other seasonal releases. BIG thanks Oddisee.

I have a love-hate relationship with EP’s. When I love it, I hate waiting for the rest of the LP to come out, and Something Out Of Nothing is no different. After listening to the 8 track debut EP…a few times I was like, “When’s the LP coming?!” SelfSays has a classic style of flow with a Detroit twist that complements the electro-sapce beats. The cover art is a trip too. Reminds me of Fly Lo’s Los Angeles. Something Out Of Nothing is a chill EP that you can easily put on repeat. I was sleeping on this one. SelfSays dropped Something Out Of Nothing in February, but I’m awake now. Download SelfSays Something Out Of Nothing on Bandcamp. Also check out SelfSays on MySpace and Twitter. BIG thanks SelfSays for keeping it fresh.

We all have a devilish side and How To Be A Villain is the guide on how to bring it out. Khingz & DJ Ian Head put out How To Be A Villain (ep) in 03, and I discovered it when How To Be A Villain was posted on Everydaybeats.net in early 09. I’ve been listening to this for months now, and a few other things DJ Ian Head has put out. I figured it was time to share the good tunes he’s putting out. Not only the collabos and instrumental projects, but also the monthly mixDJ Ian Head does. Check out his latest one, Rock Music. It’s got a lot of the rock classics that artists sample. Download Khingz & DJ Ian Head – How To Be A Villain here. BIG thanks for Khingz & DJ Ian Head for making this devilish manual.

I rocked Oddisee’sOdd Summer for a long time and recently switched up to Oddisee’sOdd Autumn. We don’t have seasons in So Cal, so when it started getting cold the other day I figured it was time to switch. Stuff Oddisee puts out quickly becomes a staple in my ipod, so Odd Autumn is no different. I rocked Odd Autumn when I needed to feel grounded and relaxed. It’s feel good music all the way. Earlier today I was walking around downtown LA playing Odd Autumn and it felt like a soundtrack. That track The Second Date had me moving faster. Download Oddisee – Odd Autumn here, and check out Oddisee on MySpace. BIG thanks to Oddisee for making dope music and Put Me On It for dropping the exclusive.

The first thing that came into my mind while listening to Flat 17 was this thing has range for a 6 track EP. When Amede & The SoundsmithCommon’s Be remixed I thought that was dope. Flat 17 ain’t no remix, it’s all them. Amede shot me Flat 17 a while back, and I’ve been rocking it ever since. Flat 17 has some R&B sprinkled in it with dope production. I’m digging Flat 17 so much I had to shoot Amede & The Soundsmith an email asking when they’re going to come out with an album. Yeah, I’m hurt’n for more. Download a couple of tracks off Amede & The Soundsmith’s Flat 17 (below), and you’ll hear what I’m talking about. Also check out Be…Refixed remix too. Need more?! Buy the rest of Flat 17 on their site. BIG thanks for the heads up Amede. Keep making that banging music.

The title track High Society got me hooked to this dope EP. I was like “Wow, where have these cats been?!” But it was me who wasn’t looking in the right place. I figured Seattle to be all about an indie rock scene or still rocking Sir Mix-A-Lot. I was dead wrong. By the time I got to Back Track, I was a fan. I went back to The Physics‘ site and started looking for more. On a side note, these cast have a cool site. They have the most complete info I have seen about an artist, and their back story is worth the read. Back to the music- the production by Justo on High Society has a cool cat, jazzy, laid back feel. High Society dropped in June (2009) and any day now they’ll drop the complete album. In the mean time download The Physics High Society. BIG thanks to The Physics for making great music. Can’t wait to hear the album.
