I have been playing Are and Be Up So High for a while. They sent in a track previous to shooting over the EP Up So High and I wasn’t sure if they had something or if it was just another track.  Shortly after Are and Be sent in Up So High which gave me a lot more to think about.  I gave Up So High a few rounds of play and started grooving to it more.  I can see the potential that Are and Be are bring with Up So High and I’m looking forward to the LP.  Download Are and Be Up So High on Band Camp.  BIG thanks Are and Be for the heads up and keep going.

I am signed up to more newsletters then I need to be, but now and then there is some dope stuff that comes from it.  I think I noticed this one from Audible Treats because of the screen shot of a video of a dude with his head on the table and a Jack Daniels bottle in his hand.  Ha ha, I guess I can relate.  At the bottom of the image it had this label that said “Nice Guys,” so I read it.  It was a spoof  interview called Nice Short Pt. 7 to promote The Nice Guys debut album, The Show which comes out next week (Sept. 28).  I downloaded The Nice Guys Green Room EP, had it in heavy rotation, and went back for more.  Mr. Perfect is the first leak from the LP The Show and it is dope.  I’m looking forward for the LP to drop.  Download The Nice Guys – The Green Room & Mr. Perfect from Band Camp.  BIG thanks Audible Treats for the heads up.

I don’t know, maybe I’m a sucka for sampling, but the Elevated Ruffians know how to make it a hit.  Or it could be because they’re rep’n the I.E. to the fullest.  Or just maybe it’s the combination of word play and content.  Either way…DOWNLOAD IT!  I got an email from the  Elevated Ruffians with all kinds of links and musical goodness.  The Magnificent Soul EP was in there too.  I was listening and when I heard Noa James on Nothin’ New, I knew I had to post this up.  The track was popping, but got a couple levels higher when the Noa dropped some lines. I was first introduced to Seven Day (Jay Diction & J Listed) through Versis.  Seven Day and Versis have been working on a few things here and there, so when I got an email from the duo I checked it out.  They shot a few tracks to B+C now and again, but I wanted to hear what a completed project sounded like…not bad, not bad at all. Haz Solo is cranking out the beats once again.  This time he’s teamed up with New York based emcee SigNif.  Haz gave me a quick run down on how this project came about.  He linked up with SigNif, a fellow Milwaukee native, to produce a track (AfterNoon Jazz) on her album The Transition.  That project was coming to a close and Haz was digging it.  He wanted to make more, so he requested the acapella version of the title track, and made 4 different versions.  Haz then got 4 other tracks which turned into The Transition Remixes.  I’m a Haz Solo fan anyways, but I think SigNif is coming for you emcees.  Download Signif x Haz Solo – The Transition Remixes on BandCamp.  Also check out the original album, SigNif – The Transition.  BIG thanks Haz for the heads up.

Anytime that Haz Solo puts out a project, I listen to it.  He recently teamed up with theOTHERSIDE to bring you this dope EP called Laundry Day.  I’m not even sure if I need to talk about this one. Haz is a riot, so you know anything he spits is a build up to something funny.  I’m waiting for Haz to have a show in LA. theOTHERSIDE (KENO the MC & Wallsauce the producer) are a dynamic duo you can’t sleep on.  KENO living Salinas, Ca. and Wallsauce in Charlotte, North Carolina together they make an explosive sound that will get you dancing.  Having all 3 on a single project, you now there is going to be more.  When I first listened to Laundry Day, and if I didin’t know Haz, I would have thought this was a group from the jump.  Their sound meshes together well and it seems very organic.  It’s dope.  Download theOTHERSIDE x Haz Solo – Laundry Day here. Kendrick Lamar (EP) is another one I’ve had in heavy rotation on the ipod.  Is It Love is the track that pulls you in.  There’s a lot of good stuff coming from the West, and Kendrick Lamar is adding to the count.  Keep killin ‘em.  The first time I heard of  Jerome D was when he shot that Carter Video, and I knew it wasn’t going to be the last time.  Kendrick Lamar’s She Needs Me is another dope video from his latest projects.  Don’t sleep on Jerome D.  I’m sure you’ll be knocking on his door soon.  Download Kendrick Lamar – Kendrick Lamar (EP) on BandCamp.  BIG thanks Kendrick Lamar for making good music.

Trek Life is a man on a mission.  Touring Europe, doing shows on both coasts, dropping projects in between, and still making time to drop in at an in-store.  Recently Trek teamed up with J. Bizness to bring you Rhymes Within Reason.  This 10 track EP is produced by J. Bizness and with Trek on the mic, you can’t go wrong.  There’s a handfull of special guest appearances by Oddisee, Ragen Fykes, and DJ Buddy making Rhymes Within Reason ON FIRE!  Rhymes Within Reason is one of 3 projects that Trek is dropping this year, so keep your eyes & ears open!  Also keep them open for my man J. El Prez is a Los Angeles staple like the Lakers and In-N-Out. It shouldn’t be a surprise that El Prez’s title Animal Style! and cover art have that In-N-Out look. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. What does surprise me is that he can crank out projects, and be everywhere at once! For reals. I’ve seen him at several events, he’s mentioned on every blog (check the interview on LA Stereo), updates his tumblr site, and tweets throughout the day. I’d call him a super emcee.
