B+C did a collabo project with LA Stereo to bring you a 1 on 1 interview with House Shoes and J1 aka THE DEER. Part 1: The Mayor of Detroit Hip Hop, an L.A. staple, producer, DJ, pop to lil House Shoes, and all around good dude… House Shoes. He has worked with everyone from Detroit to LA, and gone around the world several times. Recently House Shoes hooked up with All City Records (from Dublin) for their 4th installment to their L.A. Series that’s out in stores now (BIG shout to Jordan Rockswell). Check out House Shoes‘ recent appearance on SOUNDWAVES (KPFK 90.7FM), and The Makings… on Do-Over records. BIG thanks House Shoes, J1, LA Stereo, and the HVW8. Keep your eyes open for Part 2: J1 aka THE DEER

One Truth – Man vs. Woman
The first thing that pops into my mind when people mention “spoken word artists” is political (or whatever topic that’s currently socially conscious) rhythmical rants. One night J1 invited me to Transmissions at Grand Star to check out this cat One Truth. Man, was that an experience. One Truth had a three-piece band called MugPush and a style far removed from other poets I’ve seen. It felt more like a hip hop or jazz show. Point is, One Truth changed my whole perspective of spoken word artists. His album Soundtrack To Life: New Beginnings also reflects that- it’s one you’ll bump in your car. Check out One Truth on MySpace, Facebook, and YouTube. Buy One Truth’s Soundtrack To Life: New Beginnings. BIG thanks J1 for the heads up.
B+C got invited to check out Shafiq’s rehearsal and interview at the KXLU radio station Thursday night. Camcorder in hand, it was an experience. The video gives you a glimpse of the rehearsal, so you know the show is going to be banging. The rehearsal is for the upcoming show Plug Research 2010 (December 22). In addition to the crazy lineup there will be DJ sets by Deadelus, J. Rocc, & Kutmah. Your host for the evening is Pharoahe Monch! What are you waiting for? GO GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!!! BIG thanks to Rocío for the invite and DJ Chuck. The Band: Andres Torres – Guitar, Brian Martinez – Bass, I Ced – Keys, Computer Jay – Keys, J1 – Drums, & Te’Amir Yohannes Sweeney – Percussion
Vocalists: Novena Carmel, Jimetta Rose, Desarae, Boki, & Kampaign

For most of y’all I don’t have to tell you who Houseshoes is, but for those of you sleeping under a rock he is Hip Hop! To the point, laid back, real, Detroit, and all around good dude are just a few ways I would describe Houseshoes. From killing it DJing to making ill beats this is the guy to know. A while back I got this track called Castles by Houseshoes. Since then I’ve been keeping an eye out for whatever he drops, even podcast. Unlike other podcast, Houseshoes’ reads more like a resume and list of his friends. I’m amazed of all the projects and the people he’s worked with. Be sure to check out The Makings and keep your eyes and ears open for his LP, and look for him at Shoes House (Blue Monkey Lounge) in Hollywood. BIG thanks to Houseshoes for taking the time.

Fat Beats “BUY A RECORD”
Saturday morning (afternoon for everyone else) chilling with no plans. turned on the computer and checked email and twitter to see what’s the buzz. I read DJ Neil Armstrong’s tweets that he was chilling at The Block in Orange. I hit him up to see if he was down for an interview, and he was like “Come on down.” I jetted from Pasadena to Orange in under an hour to bring you this great footage. BIG thanks DJ Neil Armstrong for taking the time.
