All right we have another episode of Beats+Crates Radio for your ears. Like my man Abraham would say, just like records we have come full circle. Back to the creator of Beats+Crates Radio J1 aka THE DEER with First Class. Yes this is a ticket into his record collection, and there’s no other way than first class. This is the guy who’s digging up the samples from Hip Hop tracks to the undiscovered. Your ears will love you for it. The stars must have been aligned when J1 made this mix. I seen a couple of joints from the Heavy Traffic soundtrack, and I was like no way. I watched Heavy Traffic for the first time a few months ago, and thought to myself, I needed to buy this soundtrack. I don’t want to spoil the goodness, so download J1’s B+C Radio episode First Class here and enjoy. Also be on the look out for Starship 27 Vol. 2: Take Off on Insect Records. BIG BIG thanks J1 for all that you do for Beats+Crates.

I love it when another episode of B+C Radio pops off. In this episode DJ R-Cade presents Modern Funk Flavor. DJ R-Cade is bringing the funk in a proper way. He’s grabbed everything from Curren$y, Proh Mic, Termanology to a Max Kane remix of Al Green. Modern Funk Flavor has a chill vibe with energy that gets you dancing… Even for those of you that don’t dance. One way or another R-Cade dropped a mix that will get you moving. Mr. DJ Sean O. has blessed us with a dope episode for Beats+Crates Radio. This episode is jammed pack with everyone from the Lootpack to Devonwho. Summer’s End has a real chill lounge vibe, but retains some energy. Very similar to DJ Sean O.‘s personality. You’ll never need to be in the mood to play Summer’s End because it’s right for every moment.
If any of you don’t know Sean O., he’s a mellow cat with an eclectic music collection. Sean O. is always down to share his knowledge and love for music. Catch him on KPFK’s (90.7FM) Soundwaves with the host with the most Mr. Abraham Beltran and the lovely Ms. Cecilia choppin it up. To start off, I have listened to this episode of Beats+Crates Radio 12 times (and counting). No joke. J1 has got a group of talented friends, and P.U.D.G.E. raised the bar on this one. P.U.D.G.E. is a DJ, emcee, a beat maker, and continues to crank out the projects. This episode of Beats+Crates Radio, Hanging Wit The Homeboys, covers the Hip Hop gamut in 53 minutes. I asked P.U.D.G.E. about the title and he answered, “Cuz I know and/or am associated wit everyone on the playlist.” I stopped for a minute and was like “wow,” and proceeded to go over the playlist a 2nd and 3rd time. Yes, that dope. P.U.D.G.E.’s got quite a few projects out now, but is getting ready to drop another in a few days on BandCamp. Keep your eye and ears open.Download Episode 004: Hangin Wit The Homeboys here. Check out P.U.D.G.E. on MySpace, Twitter, & BandCamp. BIG thanks P.U.D.G.E. for knocking this one outta the park. J1 aka THE DEER introduces us to an up and coming DJ to the L.A. music scene by the name of GroWeyez. I first met GroWeyez a while back after his DJ set at So Ruff / So Tuff (Carbon), and quickly became a fan. He is all around town, and spins everything from Hip Hop to Funk. This Episode of Beats+Crates Radio GroWeyez mixed tracks by Madlib to give us The Prescription. From Quasimoto to Yesterday’s New Quintet, GroWeyez takes us on a dope journey through his Madlib collection. Download Episode 003: The Prescription here, click “Continue Reading” for the track list. First off, I have no idea about the water bottle, and second Inka One is crazy with this Zojirushi Mix. I mean check out the tracklist. He goes from Black Milk, Little Dragon, to J. Rocc & Dam Funk. That’s not all, he’s got some local celebrities on this like DevonWho, Aspect 1, & J. Bizness. Inka One drops lots of exclusive and unreleased tracks, so this is a mix worth downloading. I would not be surprised if he knows each people/group personal. Head out to Boombox every 1st Saturday at Grand Star, and also check Soundwaves with Abraham & Ms. Cecilia every Saturaday night/early Sunday morning (midnight – 2) on KPFK (90.7fm) BIG thanks Inka One for the heads up.
For all you folks who can’t get enough good music, Beats+Crates Radio is up and running. It’s brought to you by your favorite DJ and mine J1 aka THE DEER. He’ll be creating a series of mixes from his collection & having special guests do their thang. Hold on tight and crank up the volume, it’s going to be an experience.
Episode 001: Both Sides Of The Brain
J1 has taken us to another level with this eclectic mix of instrumental tracks. He explained that each track is like a part of the brain and as a whole you’re using Both Sides Of The Brain. From Samiyam, to Erykah Badu & Dam-Funk this will put that brain into overdrive. Check out the tracklist below.Download Episode 001: Both Sides Of The Brain here. BIG thanks J1.

I’M NOT PLAYING…BUY THIS SH*T NOW! Ok, I’d heard the buzz about Strong Arm Steady’s (Krondon, Phil Da Agony, & Mitchy Slick) In Search Of Stoney Jackson, but it was the midnight release and in-store performance at Fat Beats that pushed me over the edge. (If you haven’t seen it, google that sh*t. I would have paid for that show.) Earlier that day aStrong Arm Steady podcast mixed by House Shoes and J. Rocc was dropped with all the extras. I bought the album that night and bumped it all the way home. Even took the long way. I can’t say anything bad about In Search Of Stoney Jackson; every track is a banger. Funky beats by Madlib, hard-hitting lyricism by Strong Arm Steady, and guest appearances by Phonte, Planet Asia, Tri-State, Fashawn, Talib Kweli, Oh On, Evidence, & more mean there’s no way this could be a bad album. Stop what you’re doing and go buy In Search Of Stoney Jackson! I got mine at Fat Beats. BIG thanks to Strong Arm Steady and Madlib for making great music. You cats set the bar high.

I dig Classic Collaboration not only for the tracks, but some are remixes by DJ Ethos & GabeReal that are only available on this mix. Check out Classic Collaboration and download it here.
