Oddisee – People Hear What They See

Oddisee - People Hear What They SeeI don’t know why it took me so long to write about my man Oddisee’s latest album, People Hear What They See. Oh yeah too busy listening to it. People- I want to tell you the music is out there. I know folks say Hip Hop sucks these days, and yeah I have caught myself saying it too. BUT the good stuff is out there, like this album. Yes, I went online to iTunes and bought it. No questions. Oddisee is high on my list for cats making good music and influencing a change in the genre for the better. People Hear What They See has a little bit of it all. Ready To Rock and Do It All has that get into “GO MODE” vibe. Just listening to it makes me feel accomplished. Maybe because I picture folks cruising around town or in deep thought.  Another Grind… who shouts out Kenny Rogers?!  Don’t sit on your hands, get up and get it. Buy Oddisee – People Hear What They See on iTunes and vinyl at Fat Beats. BIG shout to Mello Music Group for keeping me in the know. And to my man Trek Life for introducing me to another creative person.

Computer Jay – Savage Planet Discotheque vol 1 & 2

Computer Jay - Savage Planet vol. 1
Computer Jay is one of the few producers I know that can move between genres seamlessly, and still keep his sound. The stuff he produces can melt or blow your mind. Either way it’s a good thing. Savage Planet Discotheque vol. 1… melted my brain and by the end rebuilt it just to it blow up again. I had to play The Dead Ends Dead End back to back. Oh man I think listening to Omni Bent is when my mind got rebuilt. A while back cruising around on the Internet I saw this video Hardships that wasn’t on vol. 1. It tripped me out. Now I’m so excited to go get vol. 2. In the meantime go buy, on vinyl if you can, Computer Jay – Savage Planet Discotheque vol. 1 and get your mind blown. BIG thanks Jay, my taste in music wouldn’t be the same without you. Keep doing what you’re doing brother.

Fresh Daily – The Brooklyn Good Guy

Let me start off by saying, everyone needs a Fresh Daily track or album in their collection. I would even go as far as to say his music needs to be a staple in your collection. You know you’re not going to get a bad product from Fresh Daily when he drops a new projects or a collabo track. The Brooklyn Good Guy is one to have on heavy rotation. Fresh Daily also gathered up some talented folks to join him on this project like Black Spade, Melo-X, Moruf, Doc Illingsworth, Mike Baker the Bike Maker etc. If these names aren’t familiar, please do yourself a favor and check out what they make as well. After the first go around of The Brooklyn Good Guy you’ll place it with your classics. Check out Fresh Daily – The Brooklyn Good Guy on FreshDailyMC.com and check out his previous releases.  BIG thanks to Fresh Daily for keeping me in the loop.

Hawdwerk – The Graveyard Shift

Anything called The Graveyard Shift is a horror movie or someone’s putting in all-nighters and working hard. If you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s the 2nd one. Hawdwerk has been putting in hard work, and I think it’s about to pay off. Hawdwerk has teamed up with Kaleem Wasif and Funklogik from Asiatic Rhythms to produce and master all the tracks on The Graveyard Shift. Hawdwerk has a good crew and good company, and keeps at it in addition to working that graveyard shift. This is one cat we’ve already had on a winner’s block. When you get a chance check out his EPK and catch up on what Hawdwerk’s been doing. In the meantime buy Hawdwerk – The Graveyard Shift on Band Camp. BIG shout to Curtiss King and J. Bizness, I see you. BIG thanks to my man Hawdwerk for showing folks the hard work that goes into the music. Keep it going my man.

Young FALCONS

Alright gang, if you’re going to make a promo video, make it fun. Young Falcons has a party vibe to it, so I just had to post it.  I think I’m going to play this at a party just for the hell of it. And just so you don’t think this cat is a one trip pony, check out another track he did called Falcon Eye. Very dope and got it on repeat. BIG shout to  Young Falcons keep doing what you’re doing.

Ryan Stinson – Move On

That was truly on some Hunger Games sh!t. There’s nothing like watching a well done video that has a put together track. I had to check out the rest of FUTURA by Ryan Stinson, and you should too. BIG thanks to the good folks at Phonographique.

Thank You Jay Dee. Raise It Up!

It’s Dilla month ya’ll! With all the love that’s going around I have to share this dope video put together by the great Mochilla crew. Sit back and TURN IT UP! A little louder.

Chanes – Renegade Hands

So far House Shoes hasn’t steered me wrong. If you see a project that says, “House Shoes Presents,” listen to it. My man Ben from Insect Records also knows a good artist when he hears one. Chanes has been on our radar for a while and  today he has dropped Renegade Hands. The Known is my track. That gets me so hyped to get work done. I can put it on repeat for days. The beauty about Renegade Hands is the rest of it is just as dope. I don’t want to spoil it for you but this album will evoke an emotion in you that will put you at ease. A sense of bliss. Get this album, you’ll be glad you did. Pick up your copy of Chanes – Renegade Hands on Amazon. BIG thanks to my man Ben at Insect Records. And a BIG shout to Austin Texas.

Art Barz – Off With His Head 2 Ft. Black Cloud Music

Yes, that’s what I’m talking about. If you aren’t familiar with Black Cloud yet, now would be a good time to check out the roster of talent. And they keep adding to it. At work I cranked it up in the headphones and rocked out in my seat. “OFF WITH HIS HEAD!” I’m very proud of the music that is coming out of the I.E., and Black Cloud is making some BIG moves. Keep your eyes and ears open.

Azizi Gibson x Jeremiah Jae – Ignorant Prayers

Ignorant Prayers is the injection hip-hop needs. These beats are ridiculous. Jeremiah Jae is a monster at this production shit. When I was listening to Ignorant Prayers and thinking, “what will Gibson not say?” I am grossly attracted to this album and listen to it at least once a week. The hook on Windows is catchy, but you think twice about singing it out loud. Fishscale has that hypnotic beat that you played over and over again. Each track is an entertaining ridiculous short story. Ignorant Prayers is a banging project you need to check, and this sh!t is free. Download Azizi Gibson x Jeremiah Jae – Ignorant Prayers on Brainfeeder.
