Discovering gems like this EP is one of the reasons I keep doing what I’m doing without getting paid. I was going about my day and listening to stuff on Sound Cloud. Checking out all kinds of tracks and just exploring. About 10 tracks later I ran across Tiger Tsunami and the artwork to Re: Antarctica EP. “Dope cover and interesting group name, let me check this out.” First track ,Antarctica, “where can I get this?!?” I left it playing as I checked out Tiger Tsunami’s Sound Cloud profile page. Clicking every link they had on it. Waves,“where’s the download button?” I was reading the tags they labeled their music; ambient electronic, future bass, post-dubstep, and couldn’t think of a better way to describe it. Oddisee – People Hear What They See

I don’t know why it took me so long to write about my man Oddisee’s latest album, People Hear What They See. Oh yeah too busy listening to it. People- I want to tell you the music is out there. I know folks say Hip Hop sucks these days, and yeah I have caught myself saying it too. BUT the good stuff is out there, like this album. Yes, I went online to iTunes and bought it. No questions. Oddisee is high on my list for cats making good music and influencing a change in the genre for the better. People Hear What They See has a little bit of it all. Ready To Rock and Do It All has that get into “GO MODE” vibe. Just listening to it makes me feel accomplished. Maybe because I picture folks cruising around town or in deep thought. Another Grind… who shouts out Kenny Rogers?! Don’t sit on your hands, get up and get it. Buy Oddisee – People Hear What They See on iTunes and vinyl at Fat Beats. Computer Jay – Savage Planet Discotheque vol 1 & 2

Computer Jay is one of the few producers I know that can move between genres seamlessly, and still keep his sound. The stuff he produces can melt or blow your mind. Either way it’s a good thing. Savage Planet Discotheque vol. 1… melted my brain and by the end rebuilt it just to it blow up again. I had to play The Dead Ends Dead End back to back. Oh man I think listening to Omni Bent is when my mind got rebuilt. A while back cruising around on the Internet I saw this video Hardships that wasn’t on vol. 1. It tripped me out. Now I’m so excited to go get vol. 2. In the meantime go buy, on vinyl if you can, Computer Jay – Savage Planet Discotheque vol. 1 and get your mind blown. BIG thanks Jay, my taste in music wouldn’t be the same without you. Keep doing what you’re doing brother.

Trek Life – Hometown Foreigner

Trek Life and Duke Westlake worked hard on Hometown Foreigner. You can really see this is a personal album where Trek had to get a few things off his chest. The title Hometown Foreigner says it all. The album is upbeat with a few sexy tracks like “Be Together.“ What I like about Trek is he can talk about the issues like love, the music industry, growing up, racial profiling, and always keeping the party vibe. You not only get some knowledge but also that turn it up good vibe music. And Duke Westlake ain’t no stranger to making good music. Memory Palace stays playing at my house, and I’m about to check out his new album Turn. Both cats are all around good dudes that are winning with this album. Pistol McFly & VerBS – Nuff Said

Can you say hell yeah?!? That cat Verbs connects with the right folks when it comes to his projects. Pistol McFly and L!STED, what’s next? Nuff Said is a collection of track, but sounds like it was a project meant to be. Everything You Make It had me cranking up the volume without a care in the world. And when I got to Dear Los Angeles I realized I had just listened to Nuff Said 3 times. I really dig a project that makes you want more, you play it a few more times, and started digging for other project by the same artists. Fresh Daily – The Brooklyn Good Guy

Let me start off by saying, everyone needs a Fresh Daily track or album in their collection. I would even go as far as to say his music needs to be a staple in your collection. You know you’re not going to get a bad product from Fresh Daily when he drops a new projects or a collabo track. The Brooklyn Good Guy is one to have on heavy rotation. Fresh Daily also gathered up some talented folks to join him on this project like Black Spade, Melo-X, Moruf, Doc Illingsworth, Mike Baker the Bike Maker etc. If these names aren’t familiar, please do yourself a favor and check out what they make as well. Hawdwerk – The Graveyard Shift

Anything called The Graveyard Shift is a horror movie or someone’s putting in all-nighters and working hard. If you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s the 2nd one. Hawdwerk has been putting in hard work, and I think it’s about to pay off. Hawdwerk has teamed up with Kaleem Wasif and Funklogik from Asiatic Rhythms to produce and master all the tracks on The Graveyard Shift. Hawdwerk has a good crew and good company, and keeps at it in addition to working that graveyard shift. This is one cat we’ve already had on a winner’s block. Alright gang, if you’re going to make a promo video, make it fun. Young Falcons has a party vibe to it, so I just had to post it. I think I’m going to play this at a party just for the hell of it.
