You really have to respect a cat for being on the grind all the time. Futuristic is always at shows, preforming, promoting, networking, tweeting, emailing, and just giving it his all. I would see this cat out and about back to back weekends making things happen. Earlier this year Futuristic released the EP Stairways. The production on it is heavy and he spits what he knows. After I watched the video (above), I got a better insight on who and what Futuristic is all about, positive hip hop. He’s confident in his skills, and understands that there’s more he needs to learn. Magestik Legend doesn’t disappoint, and he brings the heat once again with To Be Continued… Chapter 1. I played To Be Continued from beginning to end, and had the volume cranked up. I thought Magestik Legend was dope when he dropped FREE, but he kills it on this one. Bout Freedom (produced by Astronote) gets you geared up to walk a little harder, head nodding , hands waving.. good time. To Be Continued is hosted by T3 of Slum Village and has guest appearances by Marv Won, Ro Spit, Othello, and Buff1 gives a shout out. Sotu the Taveller hooked up with Nalden to make this ill video for his track HourGlass. It tripped me out at first. I started to hear that backwards record sound on the track and the video was in forward motion. At first there were small changes I started to notice, like the video was going to the tempo of the track, then it would switch to just the beat. It wasn’t until I watched it a second time that I noticed half way through the video, that it goes in reverse. Just crazy. Check out Sotu the Traveller’s album Left on BandCamp. I don’t know, maybe I’m a sucka for sampling, but the Elevated Ruffians know how to make it a hit. Or it could be because they’re rep’n the I.E. to the fullest. I was first introduced to Seven Day (Jay Diction & J Listed) through Versis. Seven Day and Versis have been working on a few things here and there, so when I got an email from the duo I checked it out. They shot a few tracks to B+C now and again, but I wanted to hear what a completed project sounded like…not bad, not bad at all. If you want to blast off into space on the soul train, Leonard Dstroy’s Higher Vibrations is for you. The opening track Technical Difficulties had me cranking up the volume. When I got to Sunset Marquis (the second track) I knew I was in for a wild ride. The 8-bit sound is really big these days, but Leonard Dstroy adds a twist to it. I can’t put my finger on it- could it be that he uses a range of samples, or could it be those drums?!? Either way, I got it on heavy rotation. When folks send in stuff to B+C sometimes it takes a while, and sometimes…it bumps. Addifi came out of left field with The Green Diner when he got in touch with B+C. Addifi expressed that he’s a fan of the site, and found some great tunes on B+C. He went on to say that he’s a DJ/Producer in L.A. and recently put together a beat tape, The Green Diner. I clicked the link to The Green Diner and before I knew it, I had gone through the whole thing. The Green Diner has a nice build up with Chant Intro and Story Time Cresando. I have to say I’m sorry for holding back on this one. This post is long overdue. I was kicking it with the LA Stereo fam and met Jazzi. We talked for a while and it came out that she makes beats. At first I was like, “what’s this little girl know about making some beats”. I say little girl, because she’s little and a girl, nothing more. Jazzi looks like the girl next door or someone’s little sister. A few nights later I looked for her beat tape The Girl Beatz Volume 1, and I’ve been playing it since. The Girl Beatz Vol.1 is banging. It doesn’t sounds like what’s going on now, but 3 or 4 steps ahead. Don’t get it twisted when you talk to Jazzi because she can beat talk the talk with the best of them.
