Nefarious! – The Dream Theory

Nefarious! - The Dream Theory

Hit play, lean back, close your eyes, and relax your mind. As the  music finds it’s way into your brain through your ears, thinking there is no other place to be but right here. I’m telling you, I have been working to Nefarious!’s The Dream Theory, relaxing, walking, and just eating while this plays in the background. It puts nice calm, good vibes in the room. I hope that’s what the cat was going for cause that’s what it does. Very nice album. This is one album you should pick up. Go buy Nefarious! – The Dream Theory on Band Camp. BIG shout to The Soul Dojo, and BIG thanks to AIR; the tumblr site where I found out about it.

40LOVE – TIKI TIKI ft. Zumbi

The track is banging, emcees are on point, and the video kept me watching. 40LOVE is a new group to me, but from this video they are bringing it hard. I really dig the style of the video. Kept it simple, a little color filter, and a talented director John Coyne. Each scene keeps the tempo of the video going, focus on the group, and uses the beauty of the city to make a great video. I gotta check out 40LOVE  ‘s Dreams Don’t Sleep. Keep doing what you’re doing. BIG shout to my man John Coyne for shooting, editing, and the heads up on this one.

Josie Stingray – Got To Get It

I don’t want to say anything that’s going to land me in hot water with female emcees, but DAMN can you spit like that?!? I gotta ask the fellas that too, because Josie Stingray shows she’s a dope emcee. Just play it again and listen carefully. “Give me a beat I’m a show you how my teeth work. Call me a B, and you must mean brilliant.” You all know I’ll be digging up more stuff about her for sure. Josie Stingray, kicks, and the Honor Roll… sounds like a good mix to me. BIG thanks to the Honor Roll for keeping me posted.  BIG shout to Torin Simpson and Matt McKee for making a dope video.

Drums & Ammo Vol. 1

Drums and Ammo Vol. 1 is a banger, and then they came out with the Extra Clip, and now visuals showing you how dope these cats are. Drums & Ammo are no joke. They are cranking out the projects. Keep your eyes and ears open for more Drums & Ammo. BIG shout to SWTBRDS, keep doing what you’re going.

Drums & Ammo Vol. 1

If you really want to know how the West was won close your textbooks and put on your headphones! Drums & Ammo Vol. 1 is an instrumental album that takes you through a west coast gamut of monster beats. It has tracks from previously produced tracks to brand new head bangers. Quick background:  Drums & Ammo is a collective of SWTBRDS producer’s 6Fingers, Al Jieh, Ammbush, and REL. They’ve been producing tracks for up-and-comers and well-established artists. In addition to banging tracks they got my man DaVinci doing some drops on Drums & Ammo Vol. 1. You really have to give it up to these cats, coming in under the radar, their sound is so explosive. Don’t sleep on the Bay Area, they are a force that’s coming with Drums & Ammo. Download Drums & Ammo Vol. 1 on Band Camp and check out the latest info on Twitter. BIG thanks to the good folks at SWTBRDS for tweeting this one. Looking forward to Vol. 2!

Foreign Legion – Night Moves

“It’s been 13 years, five record labels, five managers, three dj’s, three lawyers (both entertainment and criminal), countless producers, court dates and versions of that CSI program later, and Foreign Legion are ready to release their third studio album, Night Moves.” — Quality Control

Going through all that, how do you not root for them?! To top it off Foreign Legion’s Night Moves is dope. Please, don’t sleep on this duo that’s bringing classic tracks to your ears. From the beginning it gives off good vibes, and it’s sad when it ends.   Night Moves is one to check out. Good thing for repeat. I can’t pick out one track to talk about because I would take this to a party and knock over anyone trying to change it. Piano Banger will get the crowd moving on the dance floor for for sure. Night Moves is down right feel good party music. Buy Foreign Legion – Night Moves on iTunes. Keep your eyes and ears open for these cats. I’m sure they will be bringing more bangers. BIG thanks to Karim at Quality Control for keeping me up on the Bay.

Trailer Limon – Special Dedication: The B-Sides

Words by: Jacqueline of The Mint Collective

When my friend Eric Boss first introduced me to Dan Aka Trailer Limon and I heard his music, I knew he would be on the shine soon.  Trailer has got some of the most diverse sounds packed into one project I have ever heard.

This latest EP, Special Dedication – The B-Sides consists of 5 tracks running the gamut of hip hop, soul, funk, chillwave and even uptempo danceable ish.  Makes sense because this dude is a multi-instrumentalist who delves into his creations using a mixture of analog instruments, synths, samplers, electronic drums and anything else he can get a noise out of.  From throwback disco and hip hop jams to afro-Slump and future funk, Trailer is a musical chameleon with his mind rooted in funk.  He is so sick he gots the funky flu.

His current projects include The Pendletons; a soul/slump outfit with E Da Boss, New Future; a future funk band with fellow funkster Stanely Vanagan, and Secret Service; a psychedelic tribal krunk duo with Oakland artist Sun Ru. Download Trailer Limon – Special Dedication: The B-Sides on Band Camp, and also check out Trailer Limon on Twitter.

B+C Radio: Space.Mind.Grind

Episode 002: Space.Mind.Grind

The fam went all out on this one.  J1 aka THE DEER got heavy hitters Max Kane & Teeko, and they killed it.  I met these cats a while back and they have changed my whole outlook on live performances.  It’s some other level-ish.  Max & Teeko are 2/3 of F.A.M.E. (Fresh Analog Music Experience), and half of 4OneFunk.  BIG shout to my man Malaguti (of F.A.M.E.).  Space.Mind.Grind is Beats+Crates Radio’s latest installment.  Space.Mind.Grind has tracks from JimiJames to Black Spade, so you know you have to crank up the volume on this one.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played Space.Mind.Grind before writing this post.  Download B+C Radio Episode 002: Space.Mind.Grind here.  Read more for tracklist.  Also check out F.A.M.E. -TruthPics.  BIG thanks to Max Kane & Teeko for killing this one.

F.A.M.E. – TruthPics

F.A.M.E.’s TruthPics has the B+C record for the number of times played back to back…4!!!!  Teeko, Max, & Malaguti are three down to earth and cool cats the make up the group F.A.M.E..When I got the email, I put it on right away and I haven’t played anything else today.  I’ve seen F.A.M.E. (Fresh Analog Music Experience) live a couple of times when they came to L.A., and it truly is an experience.  F.A.M.E. sets up gangs of equipment and plays it ALL. They raised the bar for live performances, so go catch them in your city.  “Lightly sweetened with tasteful turntablism and delicate vocal subtleties, this collection pays light to characteristics of truth using a wide range of styles and feels. Resulting in a colorful variety pack of future funk and hip-hop soul.”Teeko

TruthPics is down right feel good music. Determination is one of those joints that puts you in a good party mood, and everyone’s having a good time. No matter who you play TruthPics for, you can’t go wrong.  To make this even sweeter, TruthPics is just a glimpse into the full length album Come With Us (summer 2010).  Find F.A.M.E. on YouTube MySpace, Twitter, wherever because these cats are the future.
