Do you know who DJ Quik is? If you answered yes or no to this question, then go directly to Boombox . This Saturday December 3rd the great folks at Boombox are having their 5th Anniversary party. They do a great party once a month, but when it comes to an anniversary party they really know how to do it up. December 3rd is going to be a banger with special guest DJ Quik, and guest host M.E.D.. If you don’t know about M.E.D., his latest album Classic is the perfect introduction. It’s been on heavy rotation on my iPod since it dropped. I hope he spits a few bars and plays a few tracks. And I can’t forget about the hosts that have been making LA dance for 5 years and counting, Mr. Inka One, Ben Diggin, and Analog. Truly good people for keeping the scene alive in LA, and helping out with countless other events. This is going to be an amazing night, so bring your camera, dancing shoes, and all your friends. Kendrick Lamar (EP) is another one I’ve had in heavy rotation on the ipod. Is It Love is the track that pulls you in. There’s a lot of good stuff coming from the West, and Kendrick Lamar is adding to the count. Keep killin ‘em. The first time I heard of Jerome D was when he shot that Carter Video, and I knew it wasn’t going to be the last time. Kendrick Lamar’sShe Needs Me is another dope video from his latest projects. Mr. Crooks does it again with Diamonds & Guns. The title track is a banger. Diamonds & Guns puts you in an Audrey Hepburn movie with a heist and the villain gets away. Maybe it was the cover art that made me envision that. Either way Stevie Crooks kills that track. Crooklyn is another track that I can’t get outta my head. This is one artist not to be slept on. CSTC Mixtape is a skaters sound track! When I was in high school I’d cruise around town late at night playing De La, Common, and the Pharcyde.
