My man Haz Solo wised me up on Rufio and his beat tape entitled The Edgewater. Haz is a cool cat and collaborates with folks from all over, so it didn’t surprise me when he said Rufio is from Sacramento. What did surprise me, is how quick Rufio cranked out a beat tape. Not only instrumental tracks, but tracks also featuring a few emcees. Yes Haz is on it too. In the email Haz explains how Rufio came up with the name The Edgewater, “He was in my neck of the woods (Madison, WI) last week and I challenged him to make a beat tape during his stay and entitle it the name of the Hotel he was staying in.” Sometimes it’s as simple as that folks. Haz Solo is cranking out the beats once again. This time he’s teamed up with New York based emcee SigNif. Haz gave me a quick run down on how this project came about. He linked up with SigNif, a fellow Milwaukee native, to produce a track (AfterNoon Jazz) on her album The Transition. That project was coming to a close and Haz was digging it. He wanted to make more, so he requested the acapella version of the title track, and made 4 different versions. Haz then got 4 other tracks which turned into The Transition Remixes. Anytime that Haz Solo puts out a project, I listen to it. He recently teamed up with theOTHERSIDE to bring you this dope EP called Laundry Day. I’m not even sure if I need to talk about this one. Haz is a riot, so you know anything he spits is a build up to something funny. I’m waiting for Haz to have a show in LA. theOTHERSIDE (KENO the MC & Wallsauce the producer) are a dynamic duo you can’t sleep on. KENO living Salinas, Ca. and Wallsauce in Charlotte, North Carolina together they make an explosive sound that will get you dancing. Having all 3 on a single project, you now there is going to be more. When I first listened to Laundry Day, and if I didin’t know Haz, I would have thought this was a group from the jump. Haz dropped this cat Ka$h on me other day. I checked the title Black Bauer 24 and was like WHAT?!. Then I was like, how come they didn’t come up with that sooner.?! Using 24 as the concept for an album is dope. The intro was funny and then it moved into some real hip hop. Besides Haz on production they also got my man Dylan Thomas cranking out beats. Dylan Thomas and Haz Solo are funny, crazy, and dope. The have done separate projects of their own (featured on each other projects), but together are dynamic. Haz has got a hand full of albums, and yeah man I’m still rocking June Bug. Dylan Thomas dropped And It Was Good…and it was dope. That one’s in heavy rotation on my ipod. All Jokes Aside takes it to another level with these cats. Don’t Turn Around is one of the tracks that got me hooked. The whole thing is worth the buy. Check it for yourself. The end of the album sums it up…”I should have called this shit great.” I got an email right before my vacation from this cat Dylan Thomas. I did a quick look and seen he rocks some stuff with the fam bam Haz Solo. You know that cat cranks out the tunes like crazy. I checked around to see what was crack’n, and Dylan Thomas’ name came up more than once. This album is on fire, and yeah Haz got in on this too.
