The Nice Guys – Victory Lap

The Nice Guys’ The Good Shepherd is a dope track from the get go. I watched the video 3 times just to hear it again. I’m a fan of city shoots and gorilla style (candid) videos. To me it seems personable when you take a stroll with the artist in an everyday situation. If you don’t know about The Nice Guys, check out their EP The Green Room.

I am signed up to more newsletters then I need to be, but now and then there is some dope stuff that comes from it.  I think I noticed this one from Audible Treats because of the screen shot of a video of a dude with his head on the table and a Jack Daniels bottle in his hand.  Ha ha, I guess I can relate.  At the bottom of the image it had this label that said “Nice Guys,” so I read it.  It was a spoof  interview called Nice Short Pt. 7 to promote The Nice Guys debut album, The Show which comes out next week (Sept. 28).  I downloaded The Nice Guys Green Room EP, had it in heavy rotation, and went back for more.  Mr. Perfect is the first leak from the LP The Show and it is dope.  I’m looking forward for the LP to drop.  Download The Nice Guys – The Green Room & Mr. Perfect from Band Camp.  BIG thanks Audible Treats for the heads up.

The Nice Guys – Venting

I got a link from this cat Hollywood Floss about his EP, The Xperiment. Vol. 1. The link lead me to Hailmegetron.net with an explanation of the concept.  Hollywood Floss sent a few joints out to a couple of his frienda, and had them name the tracks.  And then he would put the “experiment” out.  Simple concept, but one I haven’t seen done to release an EP.  Cool idea.  When I first gave it a listen it wasn’t a sound I was expecting to come from Texas.  Its an electric mix with a Hollywood Floss style.  Hollywood Floss brings it with his witty lyrics over a nice choice of beats.  He’s definitely one to look for. When I first read about Carter on IllRoots, I was thinking that this is another down south cat that is a knock-off of Goodie Mob or Outkast. But I’ll tell you when I’m wrong, and this was one of those rare moments. I was totally wrong. The concept of the mixtape is cool with some mixes of other “Carters” in it. The thing that makes this mixtape stand out for me it Carter goes from Jay-Z and Kanye to Little Drangon…that’s just dope. It shows the musical influence that Carter has. I am still blown away by the number of folks who don’t know The Are. From Houston, Texas he’s made this hot EP called Still Climbing. I Think I listen to it at least ones a day.
