My man Noa James shot me an email, and was like you gotta check out Curtiss King’s Snick @ Nite. After listening to Bangin’ On A Trash Can & Guttah Gullah Island I was feeling it, and was sure Snick @ Nite was *ish that’s going to be on some other level. Right away I was digging the play on Nick at Nite. Curtiss throws out all the old cartoons that I watched. That’s when I knew this project as dope.Download Curtiss King – Snick @ Nite here. Want more Curtiss King ?! Check out his other projects on Brick To Ya Face. BIG thanks Noa for the heads up. I.E. is bring’n it in 2010!

J. Bizness dropped Reason Beats & Pieces a while back and it was something to rock to. You can’t go too long without hearing a J. Bizness beat, he’s everywhere. J. Bizness teams up with Ayiro, another dope beat maker, for Cali Fire Commission. Earlier I was going through downtown L.A. and the tracks fit the mood. It was a cinematic moment. A few days ago I was talking with J. Bizness on twitter about the tracks I was digging, but you can rock the whole thing and won’t be disappointed. Don’t sleep on this one people. Download Cali Fire Commisson Vol. 1 on bandcamp.com. For more info on J. Bizness & Ayiro check them out on MySpace. BIG thanks J. Bizness for the low down.

Hopefully by now you know the name Noa James, but if you don’t, no worries. Noa has been cranking out the projects like crazy with the rest of the cats on Black Cloud Music. After dropping Sounds Of A Monster, Noa, Jynxx, Curtiss King, and Art Barz are bringing Black Friday Tape. And putting it out on Black Friday (11/27/09)! The tracks selected for Classic Collaboration takes me back to high school, and some even farther. This was recorded in 2006 at Stacks record shop in Ontario (Inland Empire) while the shop was still open. Classic Collaboration is one of the many projects DJ GabeReal & DJ Ethos are planning on releasing this year. Like another B+C’s hero J1, DJ Ethos & GabeReal used all vinyl to create this dope mix. I dig Classic Collaboration not only for the tracks, but some are remixes by DJ Ethos & GabeReal that are only available on this mix. Check out Classic Collaboration and download it here. BIG thanks to DJ GabeReal for the heads up.

I first got wind of this cat Rick Hughes from the track In My City off Cali Co-op, and a few folks I’ve talked with dropped his name in conversations. But what made me really pay attention was an email I got from Camille about her post on Arize Magazine’s site. I chatted with her on twitter about it, and Camille told me she was all about getting good music heard. I was down for that, and the tracks she sent were good. Rick Hughes has worked with a gang of people from Kid Boogie to Oh On, so I’d keep a close eye on this cat. Rick, keep making moves…and rep’n the I.E.Download all 5 tracks here. BIG thanks Camille for keeping my ears open.

My man Noa James does it again. Breaking out of the cage and bringing you Sounds Of A Monster. What I dig about that cat Noa James is his lyrics. He’s clever, shares personal stories and the 90s WWF references. Sounds Of A Monster lets you in on how Noa James ticks. One of my favorite tracks on this album is Therapy Session which show how Noa can paint a picture with his lyrics. The production by some dope producers on this album complements Noa’s mic skills and vice versa. Download sounds of A monster here. Also check out In Blanka Mode. BIG thanks to Noa James & Jynxx for the low down. Keep cranking’em out IE fam.

The fam Infinite Cycle had this crazy idea and ran with it. He kicked it around with some A 1 cats, J Buziness & DJ Gade Real and they were down from the word go. Now understand Infinite Cycle is in Sacramento, J Buziness & DJ Gade Real in the I.E., so face time ain’t the easiest. They managed the whole project through phone calls, Twitter, emails, and file sharing host. You gotta love technology.
“From something that started out as a discussion about not having enough unity in music to having a mixtape out in about a month shows how much a small idea can be brought into fruition by a little dedication and hard work. After all of the scrambling and deadlines, the Cali Co-op Vol. 1 mixtape was formed and what we have here is only some of California’s finest talent in one package, mixed by DJ Gabe Real.” –Infinite Cycle

Yep! is at it again. That cat is always on the grind. This time he’s teamed up with T.I.E. (both from the Uhh) to bring you Tomorrow, Yesterday. This dynamic duo dropped this dope single “Ladies Say,” and when I tell you it’s hot…it’s hot. From the clever lyrics to the kick back beat it will get you grooving. This is the first single off their upcoming album that’s out in September. They also gave me the heads up on another joint that will be out at the end of summer, so keep your ears open. Meanwhile download Tomorrow, Yesterday – Ladies Say here. Check out Tomorrow, Yesterday on MySpace and follow them on Twitter. BIG thanks Jay.

From the cover of the mixtape (that’s a take on Al Green’s “Greatest Hits” cover) to the jazzy beats, “Word To Your Blogger” is that kick back chill party everyone needs to go to. Pheo’s mixtape is a throw back with a fresh take on it. He has the laid back chill party rhyme style of Dom Kennedy, and Alf Alpha brings the soulful beats and kick samples to a simmering boil making “Word To Your Blogger” hot. Using beats from Outkast to Souls of Mischief you can’t help but to have flashbacks to the early 90′s. This is one mixtape I’m taking to everyone’s house party and putting it on repeat. If you haven’t discovered what the I.E. is bring, this mixtape is more then an introduction…it’s the I.E. way. Download Word To Your Blogger here, you can check out what Pheo is up to on MySpace. Don’t forget to swing by Alf Alpha’s site. BIG thanks to East of LA for letting me know MoVals got talent hotter then the weather.
