You really have to respect a cat for being on the grind all the time. Futuristic is always at shows, preforming, promoting, networking, tweeting, emailing, and just giving it his all. I would see this cat out and about back to back weekends making things happen. Earlier this year Futuristic released the EP Stairways. The production on it is heavy and he spits what he knows. After I watched the video (above), I got a better insight on who and what Futuristic is all about, positive hip hop. He’s confident in his skills, and understands that there’s more he needs to learn. Jansport J is a dangerous man on the beats, and this time he’s bring the soul with Save My Soul. Rocking to it in my headphones at work, getting into the vibe, and before I knew it I had listened to the whole album. Just like Jansport J’s earlier release, MoveMeants, this is an all instrumental album that you can just press play. Last Saturday at Store XIII (13) Jansport J had a listening party for Save My Soul, and a few advanced copies for sale. Soul music is like soul food, you always feel at home no matter where you’re at. Save My Soul gave me that same feeling listening to it on Store XIII sound system. This album is worth picking up. I got an email from this cat Keon Supreme, letting folks know that he was dropping his mixtape Supreme.  In the email he also expressed he had lost and gained from making this album.  Reading the email made me jump into it right away.  Knowing the effort it took to make this project come to light, I really felt the sincerity in each song.  When I got to The Flow (produced by Jansport J), I cranked up the volume.  I knew this was going to be an emotional rollercoaster when I got to Love Me Again (produced by Seven 4).  Supreme is worth the listen.  Check out Keon Supreme on Twitter and download Keon Supreme – Supreme on BandCamp.  BIG thanks Keon for the heads up.

I was catching up on twitter and ran across a Jansport J tweet about a free download… Blaktastic Vol. 1.  I’m all about the free downloads, but I took a second look at that one.  “Blakface, what?!?”  It was well worth that second take.  At first I wasn’t sure what I was going to get, but a couple of tracks in I turned up the volume.  If you walked up to me while Blakface Blaktastic Vol. 1 was bumping in my headphones, I wouldn’t be able to hear you. Val The Vandle is at it again. Bringing the acts you want to see, and ones you NEED to see.  This Friday The Spliff’s got the best from the I.E. Noa James. The only way I can describe Noa James is he’ll spit ill lyrics, choke you out with the mic cord, and stomp a hole in your chest.  He’s that ill. Check out Sounds Of A Monster and you’ll know what I’m talking about. And on the other side of the spectrum you got Kooley High. The last time they were out here I didn’t get a chance to see them perform, but this time I’m there. If you get a chance catch Kooley High’s  documentary One Day before you head to the show. Right off, WOW is a banging track! Ok to the story- Jansport J and Hawdwerk teamed up to crank out the album High Power Moves. I got the title track High Power Moves from Jansport J, and was digging it. I hit him up for some more, and he dropped Wow on me. It just keeps getting better, so you know I’m going to hit’em up  again. If this is what’s to come of the rest of the album, I can’t wait.  Both tracks have hard hitting beats and Hawdwerk drops some dope lyrics.  2Dope Boys & KevinNottingham.com co-signed High Power Moves and will be available for a free download on November 10 (download full album here).
