If I can make it, I’m heading to The Barn at UCR. Tomorrow, Yesterday, the E.A.R.T.H. Crew, and Madlib are going to be performing at The Barn in Riverside. If you haven’t seen these folks, heading to The Barn would be the best time to see them. Tomorrow, Yesterday is a great show to catch live with high energy. One of the reasons I want to check this show out is because I haven’t seen the E.A.R.T.H. Crew live. I’ve seen Madlib a few times and it’s definitely an experience. Hopefully I’ll see you folks there. BIG shout out to Yep for the heads up.
The Barn @ UCR

Episode 003: The Prescription
J1 aka THE DEER introduces us to an up and coming DJ to the L.A. music scene by the name of GroWeyez. I first met GroWeyez a while back after his DJ set at So Ruff / So Tuff (Carbon), and quickly became a fan.  He is all around town, and spins everything from Hip Hop to Funk. This Episode of Beats+Crates Radio GroWeyez mixed tracks by Madlib to give us The Prescription. From Quasimoto to Yesterday’s New Quintet, GroWeyez takes us on a dope journey through his Madlib collection. Download Episode 003: The Prescription here, click “Continue Reading” for the track list.  Keep up with GroWeyez on PodOmatic, MySpace & Twitter. BIG thanks GroWeyez for this dope episode of Beats+Crates Radio. iTunes link coming soon!

Take the time and enjoy a Dilla track or 2. We’ve all been blessed to witness a movement in music history with this man’s gift. Be inspired, create, and leave your mark on the world. I hope to have an impact as J Dilla’s music did on me. Please check out the J Dilla Foundation.
Thank you James Yancey aka J Dilla.

I got Mochilla’s email newsletter about their upcoming event, and saw this flyer. I caught Madlib, Coleman & B+’s names first, and was like “that’s what I’m doing” before I saw the date. I continued to read the rest of the email. Real talk, I had no clue who Hypnotic Brass Ensemble was, so I did my homework. I watched this YouTube video on them, and was floored. I hope you watched that video and bought a ticket, because I think it’s going to be a packed house. Catch some more background and videos on VTech Music. Buy your tickets online at TicketWeb. You can try to hit the door the day of, but I’m not trying it. BIG thanks to Mochilla for keeping me in the loop. See you cats there!

Dub MD does a great job of getting Cy’s smooth and laid back lyrics with Madlib beats. Now I’m a little biased because I dig Madlib anyways, but Dub MD has found a good variety of Madlib produced tracks to make a kick mixtape. Check it out for yourself and see what I’m talking about. Download Madicinal Libationz here. Check out what Cyrano is up to on MySpace, and check out Dub MD’s next production. BIG thanks to Dub MD for giving me the heads up. Keep those cazy mixes coming.

Yes I’ve been sleeping on this, but ears are wide open. I got an email from Dub MD Promotions and this track was in it. I replied with a thanks and will get to it. Well when I did, I was like wow that’s hot. Madlib makes some bangers, but this cat Cyrano gives a good balance to the beat. With the addition of Silent Knight this track will end up on your heavy rotation playlist. On April 13th check for Dub MD & Cyrano aka Cy Yung presents “Madicinal Libationz: Flow Springz Eternal. BIG thanks to Dub MD for shooting it over. Check out the other mixtapes Cyrano aka Cy Yung is rocking on MySpace.

Digging around on Okayplayer I found a post about Mos Def’s new LP coming out. I did a search and got a little more… a lot more. Mos has got a West Coast connect with Madlib and Oh No producing some tracks. Not just that, but has Chad Hugo, Mr. Port, and the late great J Dilla. If I get a sneak peek I’ll post it. BIG thanks to Okayplayer for the post.
Tracks:
Life in Marvelous Times (prod. Mr. Flash)
Auditorium (prod. Madlib)
Super Magic (prod. Oh No)
Twilight Speedball (prod. Chad Hugo & Mos Def)
Pretty Dancer (prod. Mr. Porter & Hemmy)
History (prod. J Dilla)
Pistola (prod. Madlib)
Casa Bey (prod. Madlib)
Wahid
Quiet Dog
Track list from Wikipedia. BIG thanks.

This is a cool track and cover art. Washington DC group Damu The Fudgemunk takes a Madvillain ( Madlib x MF Doom) track from Madvillain and puts their own spin on it. The download also comes we a couple of beat making videos and more cover art. Check it out. BIG thanks to URB tweeting about this one. Download the track here.

Sometimes when you find stuff…you find stuff. I was rockin some Guilty Simpson and wanted to see what else was out there that I haven’t heard. I did a search and a huge list popped out. I’m a Big Madlib and Guilty Simpson fan, and when it’s on the same track I gotta post it. I’m not sure where the track came from, but I’ll see what else i can dig up on it. Enjoy. Check out both on Stones Throw.
Download track…if it’s still there.
