The Foreign Exchange should have won the Grammy for Daykeeper.  Period, full-stop.  Well, Phonte & Nicolay return this fall with an opportunity for voting members to right this wrong, in the form of their third studio album Authenticity.  Based on the first single Maybe She’ll Dream Of Me, October 12th will be a Tuesday to remember. Anytime that Haz Solo puts out a project, I listen to it.  He recently teamed up with theOTHERSIDE to bring you this dope EP called Laundry Day.  I’m not even sure if I need to talk about this one. Haz is a riot, so you know anything he spits is a build up to something funny.  I’m waiting for Haz to have a show in LA. theOTHERSIDE (KENO the MC & Wallsauce the producer) are a dynamic duo you can’t sleep on.  KENO living Salinas, Ca. and Wallsauce in Charlotte, North Carolina together they make an explosive sound that will get you dancing.  Having all 3 on a single project, you now there is going to be more.  When I first listened to Laundry Day, and if I didin’t know Haz, I would have thought this was a group from the jump.  Their sound meshes together well and it seems very organic.  It’s dope.  Download theOTHERSIDE x Haz Solo – Laundry Day here. Ok if you haven’t heard of Kooley High, you’re sleeping.  After checking out the documentary One Day and meeting them I’ve been keeping an eye out. Together they’re a banging group, and as individuals they can kill a mic.  For example Tab-One dropped The Tabloids a while back, and I’ve been rocking it ever since.  It was hard to pick a couple of tracks for a preview.  The Tabloids is one album I can wholely say the this is dope.  Download Tab-One – The Tabloids here.  Check out other Kooley High projects and keep an eye out for when they come to your town.  BIG thanks Tab-One for making good music.  I’ll catch you cats when you visit SoCal again.

I heard Kooley High’s mixtape (Kooley is High) and was digging it. Later I seen these cats out in LA on the grind. Handing out CD’s to everyone they could, and talking it up with other Hip Hop heads. I went to 2 events that weekend, and seen them on the move. It made me really curious about the documentary One Day, so later that week I watched it. Cy Young, who’s part of Backpackers Anonymous Music Group gave us the low down about  BPA’s affiliate, Ivy League GFX teaming up with 18-year-old North Carolina MC, Micky Digital (aka Kino) on the mixtape  “Analog.”  Micky Digital’s lyrics flow seamlessly against some great beats. Dub MD does a great job of getting Cy’s smooth and laid back lyrics with Madlib beats. Yes I’ve been sleeping on this, but ears are wide open. I got an email from Dub MD Promotions and this track was in it. I replied with a thanks and will get to it. Well when I did, I was like wow that’s hot. Madlib makes some bangers, but this cat Cyrano gives a good balance to the beat. Diggin around for some new music I came across Median on Halftooth Records.  This North Carolina lyricist  is part of the Hip-Hop crew The Justus League and is definitely on the “artists to watch” list.  His mixtape, Median’s Relief In The  Making, is mixed by DJ Low Key and features production by 9th Wonder.  He’s also dropped his first full length album called Median’s Relief.  Although these releases are a bit old, they are def worth a 2nd round.  Check out his MySpace page for some new tracks and to download his mixtape for free.
