Episode 002: Space.Mind.Grind
The fam went all out on this one. J1 aka THE DEER got heavy hitters Max Kane & Teeko, and they killed it. I met these cats a while back and they have changed my whole outlook on live performances. It’s some other level-ish. Max & Teeko are 2/3 of F.A.M.E. (Fresh Analog Music Experience), and half of 4OneFunk. BIG shout to my man Malaguti (of F.A.M.E.). Space.Mind.Grind is Beats+Crates Radio’s latest installment. Space.Mind.Grind has tracks from JimiJames to Black Spade, so you know you have to crank up the volume on this one. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played Space.Mind.Grind before writing this post. Download B+C Radio Episode 002: Space.Mind.Grind here. Read more for tracklist. Also check out F.A.M.E. -TruthPics. BIG thanks to Max Kane & Teeko for killing this one.

StreetMedia is a banger. I took too long to write about them, and got overwhelmed with trying to get content out that I didn’t take the time to fully listen to them like I should have. These cats have smooth flows, and bangin production on the beats. SweetBreads (SWTBRDS) are coming out with a gang of artists and StreetMedia is the first round. If this is a taste of what’s to come, I can’t wait to hear what’s next. I was listening to StreetMedia on the train (giving it a real hard listen), and rocked it at my 9 to 5. StreeMedia is one of those albums you can put on anytime and enjoy it. If you’re in need of real hip hop, download StreetMedia (self titled album) at BandCamp. Check out what SWTBRDS is coming wit, and for more info on StreetMedia check them at MySpace. BIG BIG thanks to Alex from SWTBRDS for settin me straight on this…you know what I mean man.

Before there were hipster rappers, there were funky ones. And no one did it like Del The Funky Homosapien and the Hieroglyphics. Del is always cranking music out one way or another, and he is back at it again. This time Fo-FREE! Yeah Fo-FREE. He has made a bandcamp web site, and put all his albums up there…and some for free (for a limited time). You can stream all the albums, but the most recent ones are the freebies. Check it out. BIG thanks to HIP HOP DX for the posting it.

SXSW is winding down today but it’s been a crazy few days. Here at the Flatstock Poster Convention, there’s lot of great artwork to checkout. I want to highlight a couple studios doing some great work. Burlesque of North America operates out of Minneapolis, Minnesota and in addition to some great design work, their crew is made up of a few DJs. Check out their 12″ LP’s DO IT TO IT Volumes I and II featuring Bird Peterson, Dave Nada, Emynd, Wizard of Gaz, Tittsworth, and Mike the 2600 King.
Bobby Dixon of Kollective Fusion is one of the staples of the Austin gig poster scene. His poster design includes work for RJD2, DJ Shadow, The Roots, Method Man, Jurassic 5, and Mos Def to name a few. Continue reading…

I dig the Crown City Rockers and I’m always looking for them to come out with something…anything! DJ Chorizo Funk/DJ E Be Lo is filling the gap. DJ Chorizo Funk has come out with a remix mixtape of the Crown City Rockers, and it’s real nice. He also has another mixtape that is worth checking out called Catalog is Analog v.3. BIG thanks to East of LA.com for posting that.
