Chanes – (iN)TANGIBLES

The good folks at (iN)SECT Records sent an email about this Detroit cat Chanes. I was digging the artwork  for (iN)TANGIBLES and gave it a spin. I rocked it for a whole day before I went back and read the email again.  Chanes has a good blend of, well a bit of everything, and there’s a couple of snippet tracks on (iN)TANGIBLES I can’t wait to here the whole thing.

“We had heard about Cameron Falsetti a.k.a. Chanes, for a while now, I think first from Detroit’s Ambassador, House Shoes, we dug a little deeper and we started to see a young man with an already prolific career. Reaching out to him to see if he would be down to give us a mix for the (iN), We were not ready for what we got, all songs produced by Chanes with 8 exclusive joints. Artwork by Mike Combs

- Andy the (iN)Tern

Anything from the D, there’s always a House Shoes connection. Gotta love that guy. Download Chanes – (iN)TANGIBLES on (iN)SECT Records. BIG thanks (iN)SECT Records for the heads up. And to Mr. House Shoes for getting good music heard.

B+C Radio: Hangin Wit The Homeboys

Episode 004: Hangin Wit The Homeboys

To start off, I have listened to this episode of Beats+Crates Radio 12 times (and counting). No joke. J1 has got a group of talented friends, and P.U.D.G.E. raised the bar on this one. P.U.D.G.E. is a DJ, emcee, a beat maker, and continues to crank out the projects. This episode of Beats+Crates Radio, Hanging Wit The Homeboys, covers the Hip Hop gamut in 53 minutes. I asked P.U.D.G.E. about the title and he answered, “Cuz I know and/or am associated wit everyone on the playlist.” I stopped for a minute and was like “wow,” and proceeded to go over the playlist a 2nd and 3rd time. Yes, that dope. P.U.D.G.E.’s got quite a few projects out now, but is getting ready to drop another in a few days on BandCamp. Keep your eye and ears open. Download Episode 004: Hangin Wit The Homeboys here. Check out P.U.D.G.E. on MySpace, Twitter, & BandCamp.  BIG thanks P.U.D.G.E. for knocking this one outta the park. Interview: Houseshoes

Vimeo video version click here.

For most of y’all I don’t have to tell you who Houseshoes is, but for those of you sleeping under a rock he is Hip Hop! To the point, laid back, real, Detroit, and all around good dude are just a few ways I would describe Houseshoes. From killing it DJing to making ill beats this is the guy to know. A while back I got this track called Castles by Houseshoes. Since then I’ve been keeping an eye out for whatever he drops, even podcast. Unlike other podcast, Houseshoes’ reads more like a resume and list of his friends. I’m amazed of all the projects and the people he’s worked with. Be sure to check out The Makings and keep your eyes and ears open for his LP, and look for him at Shoes House (Blue Monkey Lounge) in Hollywood. BIG thanks to Houseshoes for taking the time.

EXCLUSIVE: Cosmic Slop mixed by J1

Cosmic Slop mixed by J1Cosmic Slop mixed by J1/backThe professor of Funk J1 aka THE DEER schools us on Parliament Funkadelic with Cosmic Slop. Exclusive: Take A Trip

J1 J1 - Take A Trip back Take A Trip will definitely take you on a trip. I rocked it the first time, and mentally went through my albums figuring out who sampled what. The second time I played it I was enjoying the original tracks, so I played it a 3rd time straight. J1 is throwing out the knowledge on this one. He breaks out classics that artists from Mary j., Mos Def, Dr. Dre, to J. Dilla have sampled from artisits like Brenda Russell, L.T.D., Howard Robert’s Quartet, and Ronnie Laws; just to name a few you may have heard of. Going from The Stashbox to Take A Trip shows the range that J1 has as a DJ, producer, and drummer. Take A Trip will get any DJ or producer to think heavy on their next sample. If you’re like me and love checking out where samples come from (the original tracks), this is the podcast for you. Download Take A Trip here. Check out what else J1 is up to on MySpace and Twitter.
