The Barn at UCR

If I can make it, I’m heading to The Barn at UCR. Tomorrow, Yesterday, the E.A.R.T.H. Crew, and Madlib are going to be performing at The Barn in Riverside. If you haven’t seen these folks, heading to The Barn would be the best time to see them. Tomorrow, Yesterday is a great show to catch live with high energy. One of the reasons I want to check this show out is because I haven’t seen the E.A.R.T.H. Crew live. I’ve seen Madlib a few times and it’s definitely an experience. Hopefully I’ll see you folks there. BIG shout out to Yep for the heads up.

Noa James – Beautiful Darkness

Real talk… Don’t sleep on the I.E.!  They are coming for you and they’ve unleashed the beast Noa James with Beautiful Darkness.  He’s Coming and the title track Beautiful Darkness bring this dark murky feeling, and then Noa James breaks out his weapon of choice on My Bars, My Life.  When I play F#ckin With You featuring Tomorrow, Yesterday I was thinking Noa declared victory.  With Miss Bliss’ lyrics on Blissful, the party begins!  This is an album worth copping.  Go buy Noa James on BandCamp or ask for him at your local record shop.  BIG thanks Noa and the whole Black Cloud fam.

Tomorrow, Yesterday – Making the Fans Pt. 1

Tomorrow, Yesterday (T.I.E. & Yep) are bringing it to you on a regular with their latest release Making the Fans Pt. 1.  A while back I got their first single Ladies Say and rocked that for a long time.  It was also featured on the Cali Co-Op Vol. 1 Mixtape, so you know I was pumped to get Making the Fans Pt. 1.  It also helps that Tomorrow, Yesterday is from Riverside.  J. Bizness, Namebrand, & Rhap V. are just a few of the talent they got mixed up in this project.  It is feel good, party, play it with your mom in the car Hip Hop.  You gotta love that.  Download Tomorrow, Yesterday’s Making the Fans Pt. 1 on Band Camp.  Also check out Tomorrow, Yesterday on MySpace.  BIG thanks Yep, you cats are making the I.E. proud.

Noa James – Sounds Of A Monster

Noa James - Sound Of A MonsterMy man Noa James does it again. Breaking out of the cage and bringing you Sounds Of A Monster. What I dig about that cat Noa James is his lyrics. He’s clever, shares personal stories and the 90s WWF references. Sounds Of A Monster lets you in on how Noa James ticks. One of my favorite tracks on this album is Therapy Session which show how Noa can paint a picture with his lyrics. The production by some dope producers on this album complements Noa’s mic skills and vice versa. Download sounds of A monster here. Also check out In Blanka Mode. BIG thanks to Noa James & Jynxx for the low down. Keep cranking’em out IE fam.

Tomorrow Yesterday – Ladies Say

Tomorrow Yesterday Yep! is at it again. That cat is always on the grind. This time he’s teamed up with T.I.E. (both from the Uhh) to bring you Tomorrow, Yesterday. This dynamic duo dropped this dope single “Ladies Say,” and when I tell you it’s hot…it’s hot. From the clever lyrics to the kick back beat it will get you grooving. This is the first single off their upcoming album that’s out in September. They also gave me the heads up on another joint that will be out at the end of summer, so keep your ears open. Meanwhile  download Tomorrow, Yesterday – Ladies Say here. Check out Tomorrow, Yesterday on MySpace and follow them on Twitter. BIG thanks Jay.

Tomorrow, Yesterday – Ladies Say

Inland Empire is Bringin it!

For those who missed out on the show at SPACE 15TWENTY, it was dope. It made you say UHH, Dope, Fresh, Ill, and everyone was rockin NameBrand! There were lots of performers, but let me just tell you about the ones that I ran home to downloaded EPs and mixtapes from. My man Jay showed up and let me know they were going on next. Now I know Jay from way back when, and he was a dope emcee back then. But when his crew (The UHH!) got up to bat they knocked it out the park. The crowd easily doubled if not tripled in size, and that’s when I knew I had to do a write up on this. Quick shout out to everyone that performed – LVN Proof, Clinton Wayne, Shaleah Nikole, Prints Haze, & Dubie.

The UHH...!The UHH…!

Uhh, classic hip hop man, can’t stop this! The Uhh kicked it off with “Feel Good” to warm up the crowd, which didn’t take long. Then they got people moving by splitting up the crowd in half and played “This Side, That Side.” The last time I had fun checkin out hip hop was at a Pharcyde show back in the days. The lyrics were on point and the production on the beats was hot. Oh man, The Uhh were making the ladies scream…literally. They kept the interaction with the crowd, and had the ladies scream to find out who was the hottest in the place (it was a tie). The winners got up on stage and got to participate in the next part of the show. One girl held a marker board, and the other wrote words on the board while the Uhh had to put them into their freestyle. It was the dopest freestylin I’ve seen in a long time. That girl kept coming up with some random words! The Uhh wrapped it up with a few more songs, but left people pumped. The Uhh is working hard in the lab on their LP and some shows. So keep you’re eyes peeled. For more info check The Uhh on MySpace.

The Mighty Dope_Fresh_IllThe Mighty

“Dope, Fresh, Ill” a description of The Mighty, and the song they opened up with. I was feelin it and they just brought more of the good vibes. The Mighty had the energy and the stage presence that had the crowd doing more than just nodding their heads. Out right dancing, man! The Mighty broke out with beatboxin, guest appearances, and kept the crowd movin. One track they did brought back T.I.E. from The Uhh on stage, and they set that one ablaze. Not only that, they had the crowd textin “breakout The Mighty” to 41027. Go on, try it. The Mighty has an album download on their MySpace site that is “Dope, Fresh, Ill” fo-sho. Check that out and see what else they are up to. Click here to download the album.

NameBrand - Fligh Skool BullyNameBrand

Who better to round off the night than a cat named NameBrand that came with a band. Yes, a Band! Let me set it up for you. (Cough, cough, clearing the throat) Ok, these cats were setting up their instruments behind the host of the show and were quickly doin a mic check, and I’m like “what?!” I wasn’t sure what was going on because I saw this cat on a drum set, 2 guitarists, and a bass player look like they were going to do a lounge act. The host introduces NameBrand and this cat dressed like the Rat Pack comes out with the swagger of Frank, Dean, and Sammy rolled into one. He starts off acappella,…and the band comes in blazin. Before you know it, the heads go from noddin to everybody jumpin around. It was hot!! Think of The Roots backing up Jay-Z, or if you put Fatlip with Anthrax Band. It was cool. As much energy NameBrand was givin off on stage, he was also crankin it out off stage. NameBrand just posted “Fligh Skool Bully” for download on his MySpace page and has “Know the Name” mixtape for download too. Hardest working man in show biz, James Brown ain’t got nothing on this cat. Download “Know the Name” here and check out NameBrand on MySpace.

For my I.E. people – Micah James

agoraphobia

For all my Inland Empire people I know I’m a little late reporting on this one, but it’s up. URB magazine and Okayplayer have blogged about Micah James’ mixtape (Agoraphobia), and it’s dope. It’s laid back hip hop with an IE kick to it, but don’t take my word for it. Download it for free. Also YouTube Micah James, and check out the videos. I know there is some hidden talent in the I.E., so BIG ups to Micah James putting the I.E. on the map.
