B+C gets lots of emails everyday, and I’m glad to read them all. When the emails have links that lead to gems, I go bananas. That’s what happened when I got an email from BoomBaptist with a link to his Beat Tape. BoomBaptist posted the Beat Tape to see if folks were getting a feel for it, and I did for sure. I have it in heavy rotation on the ipod now. This beat tape is a little longer then most, but by the time you get to the end you’re waiting to hear some more. If this is what BoomBaptist cranks out on a regular, I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for the next project. Download BoomBaptist Beat Tape here. Check out BoomBaptist on MySpace, BlogSpot, SoundCloud, and Twitter. BIG thanks Thesaurus Rex aka BoomBaptist for sending that in.

I got a link from this cat Hollywood Floss about his EP, The Xperiment. Vol. 1. The link lead me to Hailmegetron.net with an explanation of the concept. Hollywood Floss sent a few joints out to a couple of his frienda, and had them name the tracks. And then he would put the “experiment” out. Simple concept, but one I haven’t seen done to release an EP. Cool idea. When I first gave it a listen it wasn’t a sound I was expecting to come from Texas. Its an electric mix with a Hollywood Floss style. Hollywood Floss brings it with his witty lyrics over a nice choice of beats. He’s definitely one to look for. Hollywood Floss wrapped a project set to release some time in February, so keep your eyes open. Download Hollywood Floss – The Xperiment Vol.1 at Hailmegetron.net, and check out Hollywood Floss’ other release on Bandcamp. BIG thanks Hollywood Floss for the heads up.

There’s music that you have to be in the mood for, and then there’s music that puts you in the right mood. Beats Please! is one that puts you in a good mood. I was on the train the other day feeling a little worn down from the day in day out stuff. I went through a few songs on my iPod, and remembered I had new stuff to listen to. Beats Please! put me back in a good groove. This will put you in a good vibe. I would have to say he covers the Detroit sound great and adds his own twist it. Check out Hi Detroit and you’ll see what I mean. Kylebeats makes you feel it on each track. Since then I’ve been digging around to see what else Kylebeats has out. Download Beats Please! here, and check Kylebeats on twitter. BIG thanks to Gritty Goat for the post.

When I first read about Carter on IllRoots, I was thinking that this is another down south cat that is a knock-off of Goodie Mob or Outkast. But I’ll tell you when I’m wrong, and this was one of those rare moments. I was totally wrong. The concept of the mixtape is cool with some mixes of other “Carters” in it. The thing that makes this mixtape stand out for me it Carter goes from Jay-Z and Kanye to Little Drangon…that’s just dope. It shows the musical influence that Carter has. Download it and hear what I’m talking about. See what else Carter is up to. BIG thanks to IllRoots for posting it.

Today is the start of the Music part of South x SouthWest, and I can’t go (j.o.b.). But, we are blessed to have a man on the inside that’s going to give us the low down. Nate Dog (Nathan Goldman) is headed to Austin to promote his company DKNG and check out some new music. In between he’s going to keep us posted on what’s new. So keep checking back for Nate Dog’s post.
You ask, “what makes Nate the man to do some music reporting?” Well if you’ve been to the Troubadour in LA, you’ve seen DKNG’s handy work. They make custom music posters for the Troubadour and a gang of other stuff. DKNG are becoming the “go-2-guys” in the music industry, so keep your eyes peeled for them.
BIG thanks Nate Dog for hookin it up. And Congrats on winning HBO’s Flight of the Conchords “Really Arty Poster Search.”
Check out what DKNG is up to, and HBO’s Flight of the Conchords.

I dig the Crown City Rockers and I’m always looking for them to come out with something…anything! DJ Chorizo Funk/DJ E Be Lo is filling the gap. DJ Chorizo Funk has come out with a remix mixtape of the Crown City Rockers, and it’s real nice. He also has another mixtape that is worth checking out called Catalog is Analog v.3. BIG thanks to East of LA.com for posting that.

I am still blown away by the number of folks who don’t know The Are. From Houston, Texas he’s made this hot EP called Still Climbing. I Think I listen to it at least ones a day. I’ve heard a few of mixes he’s done, but the EP…it’s that dope. And it’s FREE. Head over to The Are at Myspace to see if it’s still up. BIG up’s to the beat maker, and keep crank’em out.
