Tiger Tsunami – Re:Antarctica EP

Tiger Tsunami - Re:Antarctica EPDiscovering gems like this EP is one of the reasons I keep doing what I’m doing without getting paid. I was going about my day and listening to stuff on Sound Cloud. Checking out all kinds of tracks and just exploring. About 10 tracks later I ran across Tiger Tsunami and the artwork to Re: Antarctica EP. “Dope cover and interesting group name, let me check this out.” First track ,Antarctica, “where can I get this?!?” I left it playing as I checked out Tiger Tsunami’s Sound Cloud profile page. Clicking every link they had on it. Waves,“where’s the download button?” I was reading the tags they labeled their music; ambient electronic, future bass, post-dubstep, and couldn’t think of a better way to describe it. I love love love the Re: Antarctica EP, and can’t wait until they drop more music. Download Tiger Tsunami - Re:Antarctica EP on Band Camp. BIG thanks Tiger Tsunami for making great music.

Stateless – Ariel

If you are not familiar with Stateless, this is a great introduction. They  have been around for sometime since 2002, and I heard about them shortly after they put out their self-titled record Stateless. Fast forward a few years to 2011, and I get an email about Stateless. I was so stoked that Stateless came out with a second album Matilda and their friend wanted me to check it out. Let me just tell you it’s been on heavy heavy rotation since. I discovered one of my favorite tracks from Matilda has a video. Ariel is  crazy. It shows a dancer with red and blue light streaks on a grayed out almost black background. The dancer moves in very fluid motions.  It’s a very poetic and ill video. Go buy Stateless – Matilda and check out the Ballad of a NGB (Tensei Remix). BIG thanks to Chris for the heads up.

Ghostpoet ft Kano – Cash & Carry Me Home/rmx

I was bumping around on tumblr (when it works) and found Turn Off Your Radio. This is a great tumblr site to follow if you want to keep up with UK tunes. Anyways, I saw that they posted Soul Culture’s video of Ghostpoet in the Red Bull studio remixing Cash & Carry Me Home featuring Kano. This is a really dope track and I’m looking to dig up some more for Ghostpoet. Check out his EP, The Sound of Strangers on Band Camp.

Herma Puma – Synchromystic

A combination of Simple X from Chicago and Pimpernel Jones from the UK, Herma Puma brings a wide range of Hip Hop to your speakers. Herma Puma’s Synchromystic isn’t only a mix of some dope beats, but features emcees from both sides of the world. Chapel Perilous, Love Sweet Love, Sunday, Disposable, and Psyke Out are just a few that I have on repeat. Synchromystic is one of those albums you take to a party, push play, and wait for people to ask, “who is this?” and how can they get a copy. Well I know just the place you can get it. Download Herma Puma – Synchromystic from BandCamp. Well worth it! Also check out Herma Puma on Twitter. BIG thanks Simple X and Pimpernel Jones Jones. Keep making that good music.

Grand Central – Call Me Anytime You Like

Ladies listen closely to what Grand Central is saying, and fellas there are some words of wisdom in there for you too. They have their own way about getting the message across, but it’s all the same in the end.  In God Loves Grinders Vol.1, Grand Central talks about the ladies, the music industry, and the issues in the UK.  Most of the tracks on God Loves Grinders Vol.1 are the kind you put on at a house party to keep it moving.  Call Me Anytime You Like is one of those tracks that will get your head nodding and your feet moving.  With Grand Central in the building you’re sure to have nothing but good times.  Check out Grand Centrals – God Loves Grinders Vol. 1 on their site.  BIG thanks Grand Central for the heads up.

Amede & The Soundsmith

Be...Re-FixedThese 2 cats outta east London tackled a big task of remixing an already bangin album and as they say “Re-Fixed” it. Common teamed up with Kanye (and a few other producers including J Dilla) to bring you Be. So you ask yourself, “what’s there to fix?! That album’s hot.” My thoughts exactly, until I got an ear full of Be…Re-Fixed. They moved a few things around, added a lil stutter-step remixing it, and still keeping that Ye & Common sound. Be…Re-Fixed is all instrument, but from what I’ve read Amede is the man with the blows. Hopefully we can check more of that that when they drop their next EP Flat17 in august! Stay tuned because I think they’ll come with the heat. Check Amede & Soundsmith on their site and download Be…Re-Fixed here. Also check out Distant at thier MySpace page. BIG thanks Amede & Soundsmith for tweetin. “We just want to make good music, whether it’s short raw beats, vocal based, down-tempo, hip hop soul or whatever it sounds like to you, to us this is Electric Soul made for you to feel and fuse with.” –Amede & Soundsmith

Dub MD & Cyrano – Madicinal Libationz

Madicinal LibationzDub MD does a great job of getting Cy’s smooth and laid back lyrics with Madlib beats. Now I’m a little biased because I dig Madlib anyways, but Dub MD has found a good variety of Madlib produced tracks to make a kick mixtape.  Check it out for yourself and see what I’m talking about. Download Madicinal Libationz here. Check out what Cyrano is up to on MySpace, and check out Dub MD’s next production. BIG thanks to  Dub MD for giving me the heads up. Keep those cazy mixes coming.

Dub MD & Illmind Presents…

00-frontJust to let you know how much reading and reviewing I do, it took me 3 blogs (days of posts) and 2 mixtapes (that weren’t that good) to find something I think is worth posting. And this is totally worth posting. One of the blogs lead me to The Kaos Effect, which got me reading about IllMind. I was downloading the mixtape (Dub MD & IllMind Presents Blaps, Rhymes, & Life Vol II) and was like, “man the production on this stuff is hot.” I liked that it has a good balance of nice tight rhymes and beats. The artwork totally caught my eye too. If you haven’t heard of IllMind or Dub MD check the mixtape, and I’m sure you’ll be looking for more.   BIG thanks to The Kaos Effect for posting it. Check out Dub MD and IllMind on MySpace. Download mixtape here.
