VerBS is an all around good dude and a good friend. Not only is he a dope emcee, but also a connector in the L.A. Hip Hop scene. Not sure how it all went down, but Bless Escro shot me an email about his latest project, The Blessed. Really nice album, I listened to it straight through. The Blessed has a familiar/comfortable feel to it, like this is the way Hip Hop should be. Bless Escro is blessed with skills to spit with substance. The production on the tracks have hard hitting beats that will make your speakers rattle. Let Bless Escro bless your ear drums with The Blessed. Pay what you want and download Bless Escro – The Blessed on Band Camp. BIG thanks to the homie VerBS for the connect.

Count it down like 4,3,2,1! Seven Day put together a dope video to this banging track. 1,2,3,4 also features Makeshift, Versis and everyone’s homie VerBS. Seven Day’s album CNCPT II has so many hits that I didn’t know which ones were going to become videos. 1,2,3,4 is wild with these cats in P.E./work-out gear jogging around the track, doing pushups, and a guest appearance by a chicken. YES, a chicken! Peep the video and check out Seven Day CNCPT II here. BIG thanks Seven Day for the heads up.

I was introduced to Open Mike Eagle’s music through the Hellfyre Club’s Prometheus. Then I went to Bananas one night and got to see Open Mike Eagle there. We talked for a bit and asked if I got a chance to check out his album, Rappers Will Die Of Natural Causes, yet. I didn’t and he blessed me with a copy. On my way home I popped it in the CD player and cranked it up. “Riding down Slauson bumping 97 Weezer, Don’t know all the lyrics but hittin all the key words,” “Party people do you feel me, and if you disagree you should feel free, but if you wit it raise your hands to the ceiling” Opening lines to The Processional made me see how lyrically sharp Open Mike Eagle is. Most of the tracks I had to play twice to catch lines like that. The video to Nightmares is really thought out and on some other level sh*t. Rappers Will Die Of Natural Causes is worth buying the hard copy. The artwork on the side is really dope. Buy Open Mike Eagle – Rappers Will Die Of Natural Causes on iTunes, or if you happen to run into Open Mike Eagle, buy one from him. Real nice guy and a cool cat. BIG thanks Open Mike Eagle, keep doing what you’re doing. BIG shout to VerBs and Alpha MC always good catching up with you guys.

You take a rapper, lets say NOCANDO, match him up with dope beatmakers, and you know a dope idea is getting ready to explode… HELLFYRE! Now throw in the homies VerBs, E.Super, Bomb Zombies, and a handful of other cats and you get the Hellfyre Club. To be honest I wasn’t sure what I was going to get outta this, but it was like a pleasant punch right in the face. Hellfyre Club presents Prometheus is packed with heavy hitting beats, and clever emcees. I just have to put it out there, but if you aren’t up on E.Super you need to be. Prometheus is the titan that stole Zeus’ fire and gave it to the humans…and Hellfyre Club has taken it and put it in your ears. Read the LA Times article when you get a chance and download Hellfyre Club – Prometheus here. BIG thanks to VerBs for tweeting the LA Times article on Prometheus. You cats keep doing what you’re doing.

If you live in LA, you have seen this cat VerBS. Rocking shorts, a backpack, and the signature red beanie he’ll break out a flow if the mood is right… which is most of the time you see him. VerBS is a real chill and down to earth guy. The other day I got an email with some info and a link to The Progress Ep 2: Fuck YEa MAn, and I’ve been rocking ever since. It’s a collection of collaborations, remixes and some unreleased material by VerBS. SLik d,Sevenday, Versis, Nocando, Alpha MC, Cloud, Vann Clayton, and L.Scatterbrain just to name a few folks featured on The Progress Ep 2: Fuck YEa MAn. Trust me, I would have bought this if he was selling it. Download VerBS – The Progress Ep 2: Fuck YEa MAn on BandCamp and check him out on MySpace. BIG thanks to VerBS for making the music. Keep at it man.

Val The Vandle is at it again. Bringing the acts you want to see, and ones you NEED to see. This Friday The Spliff’s got the best from the I.E. Noa James. The only way I can describe Noa James is he’ll spit ill lyrics, choke you out with the mic cord, and stomp a hole in your chest. He’s that ill. Check out Sounds Of A Monster and you’ll know what I’m talking about. And on the other side of the spectrum you got Kooley High. The last time they were out here I didn’t get a chance to see them perform, but this time I’m there. If you get a chance catch Kooley High’s documentary One Day before you head to the show. To round out the list you’ll have Ty & Kory from Buddha Brown, Speak from AppleBird, and Hawdwerk & Jansport J-who dropped High Power Moves a while back, so download a copy of that too. VerBs will be your host for the evening and always on deck Val The Vandle, Spintelect, GroWeyez & Printz Paul. This will definitely be a show to see. Catch you all at The Spliff! BIG thanks to Val for the heads up.
